Man I hope this one picks up soon

I like the start but not yet invested

It's fine, but the fact that this has a school shooting as the catalyst is...not what I want from a romance, particularly a novella. I miss the fluffy cuteness of the first book. This one's quieter and sadder, which isn't what I want.

This one just hasn't caught me yet, which is a bit disappointing after I couldn't put the first one down. It's a bit less action-y fun thus far. But the aliens are coming so hopefully when they show up...

Not having been massively impressed with prior Rodale books, I'm so surprised at how freaking much I'm enjoying this.

Hmmm, not really sure where this could be going, but I do like the writing. Not sure if a premise so un-romancey can hold my attention, but I'll give it a go.

Mysterious ruination and a random curse. Not a great start, but the rest of this series has been fun, albeit not amazing, so here's hoping this gets fun soon.

Hoo boy, so far this premise requires some suspension of disbelief, and it makes the heroine look scatterbrained at best. Waiting to see how things develop, but this is currently 50/50 on whether I'll end up enjoying it.

So far pretty meh

De la Cruz's story is okay, but it definitely crosses the line into cheesy. Plus, I don't think starting with an established couple works as well. It doesn't help that the story doesn't do anything about the MC's judgmental, snob friends or the fact that the heroine, who we learn is the most beautiful girl in school so she's accepted despite not being wealthy, wishes her boyfriend would change to be more popular.

Aimee Freedman's story was super cute too! And has a Jewish MC!

The Kasie West short story is my favorite Kasie West in YEARS.

I'm enjoying this but I can't stop laughing at how British the Americans are. These Brooklynites say things like "daren't" and "laters"

Book three is REALLY puzzling. You start this one and the whole emotional landscape of everyone has changed with no explanation. The characters don't feel the same, nor do their interactions. I think the changes (some at the very least) could work if we'd seen it happen, but it's just odd done this way.

I'm going to switch to audio on this because so far I'm super not into this, and I've read all the other Carriger books on audio, so maybe that's just the ideal for me and her work?

If anyone is wondering about that one star update for The Bride Test, it was a complete accident and has been fixed. I don't have the book; I was looking at it and wishing I did, when I clicked in the wrong part of the screen. Whoops.

Looks like this isn't a Pride and Prejudice retelling which is confusing.

Not sure how I feel about the set up here, but I DO love the narration.
