So far, fairly predictable and occasionally melodramatic. The robot/human romance isn't my fave either. Fast-paced and entertaining, however. I'm looking forward to the larger plot really starting.

Very grossed out by Hemingway as a sexy beast love interest sorta thing, but very good book.

If a girl starts a YA contemporary with a boyfriend, you know things are not going to end well.

You know, I really don't get why Rielle's got the sexy feels for Corien. Or understand the sexual tension between Simon and Eliana that came out of nowhere. The romance in this books makes me scratch my head at best.

I've been reading Furyborn for almost a month now. I simultaneously think it's really good and am super frustrated with the alternating POVs that constantly end in cliffhangers. I can't get sucked in to the story because the POV switches just when I'm about to. Maybe if the chapters were a bit longer and didn't end in cliffhangers? IDK.

Not a big fan of this one either, but I am DETERMINED to finish because I am stubborn and since it's Courtney, I know I would end up trying it again later if I don't.

The dual POV has been a struggle in this one. It feels like the moment I start to get interested, I get flung into the other POV and want to put the book down in frustration.

I do think it's well-written with cool ideas, but my progress is sloooooow bc the constant swaps kill the pacing.

1/3 of the way through and, as with book one, I'm bored. I like the set up (seemingly staid, rule-following spinster who secretly pens mysteries), but Carlyle's romances lack the banter and humor that really makes me ship. Her characters don't leap off the page.

There's some casual joking about eating disorders which is deeply distasteful. So yeah, if you were thinking about this one Trigger Warning.

(I'm not really liking this book because of things like this, but the narration is really well done, so I'm probably going to finish it.)
