Still keeps me walking...

Love the era, love the writing, and especially enjoy the inability to guess where the story is going.

Worth the wait. Paul Werner from Evergreen as a child and favorite of his aunt. Hennie is unsure of her place in the world and the family.

Four miles of a walk flies by Lisa Jewell’s characters in my ears. Funny and authentic.

Language used by a master. Good, already!

45 mins. into this audio version, and I am tired of this guy already. Perhaps it is the reader. I enjoyed the “Fingers” character and his spiritual references, but the lovelorn protagonist is a bit tiresome. Lots of stars, though, so I will plod on a bit longer.

I was hesitant about this one: a murder, a death row inmate, a priest, and a lonely, overweight woman who works for ACLU. It’s better than I expected. Picoult once again gets me to take a closer look at a controversial issue. I learn from her books!

Bogged down in the petty issues w/ boyfriend Jay and the slow movement of the clue development...

Still good. Not as compelling when Ana is in Alexandria; her longing for her husband Jesus lacks something. Still, I am curious to see how the story resolves.

The riddles in the book are fun, but I am ready for the action to move forward. Uncle Billy and Miranda... and Shakespeare’s Tempest!

This is excellent, if somewhat startling. I love the historical details of life in the Middle East in the early Christian Era. It is still hideous to imagine a woman’s lack of rights to make choices or any sort of liberty.

Love Frankie and his streaming reflections!

I love this story and the characters. They are like children in a family; I repeat their names and wait for them to unite: Lydia, Jack, Robin and Dean. Isidora and Daniel are there in minor roles. This is a book you don’t want to end, but can’t help devouring it.

Wow! The scientist Lydia, the student, and now Dean and his baby Isadora. Can’t wait to see how they meet, but the similarities are there to make them related. Great narrative.

I love the language, expressions, and struggles of the Irish immigrant. He rambles, but he is funny!

Stella has died, leaving a sad little Lucy. Ivan stretches his mind and his skills. Art is a great vehicle in the story!

Wow. What a strange synopsis: none. No reviews?! I bought this first edition (1913) at a Texarkana estate sale during early days of the COVID pandemic, March 2020. Aunt Susan and I wore gloves to the sale.

So far, not great. But the author has done a book I loved, so I will persevere!

It took awhile for me to get used to the think British accent. It’s an interesting, complex mystery. I have walked miles in pure enjoyment, just to listen to a bit more.

I didn’t expect to find this as good as it is. A nice change of pace!

I love Lillian, her attitude, her word choice, her turn of phrase. Wish she would cheer up, though!

I find the book fascinating. I wonder if Christian readers feel threatened. To me, it’s educational to learn about different beliefs and ways to worship some omnipotent force out in the universe... regardless of label. The characters are interesting, especially the child Ursale. Will the prediction of her behavior come to pass?

Word choice and wry humor. Olive, named for an ugly jealousy?! Ha. Plus anthracite, inchoate, unctuous, and more... in only 4 chapters!

So good! Love this!

I want to read an analysis of the story. I’m sure there is symbolism I’m missing.
