I love this book so much that I stayed on the brutal Stairmaster much longer than I imagined... the rotating narrators and points of view add a depth to the story that I especially enjoy.

Sequel to the story about the imaginary (but almost) agreement to trade 1,000 unmarried white women from the American govt. for 1,000 horses from Native Americans. The twin Irish sisters are the primary narrators: hilarious, direct, and fierce.

Wow. A new author, and a book that kept me up past my bedtime right from the beginning. Better put this on your list!

What a treat! I am visiting Jane Gross in Redmond, WA, and I discovered her mother’s copy of this book. I’m reading it while I am here. Copyright of this edition is 1914.

I was busy in 1982 when this book was published, so I missed some of these historic events. In between all the angst of a young man at age 13, the world keeps turning. So far, the boy himself is revealed as much more insightful and observant than I was at that age (as I recall). Parents’ divorce feels the same to me, at least.

The premise of a grandmother-type turning CIA spy is a bit silly, but Mrs. Pollifax makes it both believable and delightful. She is witty and brave. I’d like to be her, if I were to find myself living a solitary and uneventful existence.
