DivaDiane SM > Recent Status Updates

So far this year, I’ve read 60 full-length novels and novellas, which is still pretty darn good for me. I’ve also read a lot of poetry collections, a bunch of short stories (especially toward the end of the year, when I bogged down with longer works) and some shorter non-fiction.

So, I’ve done a pretty shit job of keeping this updated. It was my plan to do it as I went along, but hey ho, that plan crashed and burned early in the year.

Just read Little Goddess by Ian McDonald, which was very enjoyable and really interesting.

Finally managed to finish listening to this!

Now we’re getting somewhere!

Mystery upon mystery. No explanations forthcoming.

Had 2 good chunks of reading time today: on the airplane to Italy and after dinner.
Still creepy but intriguing.

Have finally continued listening to this the past few days.

Oh, this is already bleak and creepy. I’m not sure this book is really for me. But I liked the Ten Thousand Doors of January so much…

Reading “Rogue Farm”, which is more weird than anything at this point.

Finished the first story, the Potter of Bones, which is a fantastic story by Eleanor Arneson. It’s more like a novelette, it’s quite long. I loved it! Great character and interesting story.

They’ve arrived in the US and the situation is dire.

I can’t believe how much I barely remember of this book! Only that Regal was a moustache-twirling villain without any other mitigating qualities. I remember feeling
Let down by Hobb regarding his character development.

I already learned a thing: that the US population as a whole was pacifistic before Woodrow Wilson and in the middle of WWI the media was successfully used to create a warmongering frenzy. And look at us now.

Ohhhhh! I’d forgotten about Fitz’s Skill Dream when he met Verity near a Skill stream in a ruined/not-ruined city!!

Well, that was harrowing. Just another Thursday for Fitz.
