I’m reading it aloud to my 8 year old son, and it is a blast! We are making good progress.

Thank God the rest of the narrators are excellent. The first is a dud, sorry to say. The stories, in and of themselves are all interesting and could stand alone, but there is a VERY brief moment that ties one to another (the previous one) that makes me want to find out how the author will tie it all up. I basically remember nothing (or little enough) from the movie, that it’s all new.

I’m only a few brief chapters in but I’m really enjoying it. The POV character, an 11 year old boy, has the most amazing voice. He sounds like a naive young boy, his English is not great, but he says the most beautifully poignant things every now and again.

I’m loving this memoir! I had no idea!

I have both the hardcover of this book and the audio book. I’m listening to it, but the narrator’s odd pauses (worse than William Shatner!) are starting to grate. I might have to switch.
