Loving this book a lot more than the first time around.

Ok, this is my first reread of this one and I’m remembering very little if the details, it’s almost like reading it the first time again! :-) it was 25 years ago I read it the first time, so cut me some slack if I have no memory whatsoever of the Harper and his daughters.

I’m enjoying this reread.

Finally, Holloway does something admirable.

Holloway is really a pretty self centered asshole most of the time in this version. I prefer H. Be Piper’s Holloway.

Started the 2nd story about how Louisa herself leaves home (at 18) to become a family “companion”.

I recently read Starter Villain, which I quite enjoyed. This is also enjoyable, but I think I need to space Scalzi out a bit more in my reading schedule so that I don’t get snark overload. It’s his style.

I don’t remember reading this at all, but I must have. The titular story is a delightful slice of life story set in 1820s New Hampshire.

I have had books from this series forever and never did read them to my son when he was young. I thought this was the very first one, but apparently it’s not since they talk about a previous adventure. This is very similar to the Famous Five and other similar series set in the 50’s in England.

I like the writing style and the world seems cool so far.

I’m ripping through this. It’s delightful and moving. Just what I needed right now
