9. Reading Young and Old, Mark Twain’s Diaries of Adam and Eve - I’ve read Eve’s Diary, but decades ago when I was probably too young to think it was anything but humorous. Now I need to read it again.
10. Thinking about Cordwainer Smith - and also why writers use pseudonyms. Fascinating.

7. All Happy Families - taking a line from a book by Tolstoy as a spring board (“All happy families are alike; unhappy families are each unhappy in their own way.”, she looks at that statement and muse on whether it is true at all or not.

4. My Libraries - UKL’s life in relation to the libraries in her life. Maybe I should write an essay about my own libraries?
5. My Island - written for Island Magazine, it takes her a minute to realize which is her favorite island (Sauvie, a large island in the Columbia river inland from Portland). She writes about a bunch of other islands (including Earthsea) as well.

2. Being Taken for Granted - wonderful, astonishing, mind-opening use of language.
3. Indian Uncles - personal reminiscences of the famous Native Americans who were briefly part of her family. Unflinching.
