Strong start to this, but we're meandering a bit now...

I think part of why I'm enjoying this series so much (thus far) is that it was written in the pre-internet/pre-smartphone era (or, at least, nascent internet era). Mysteries and thrillers were more compelling when "and then he Googled it and found the information he needed in 0.65 seconds" wasn't an option.

I just couldn't stay away...bring on the grisly killings!

How did I somehow miss reading this when it came out? I must be slipping as I enter my dotage.

I'm very much enjoying the world building. Not much monumental is happening, but I'm okay with that--soaking in the atmosphere is proving to be delightfully good fun.

This really feels like my kind of jam so far. Talking about the mysteries and intricacies of magic while sipping grog in some rundown pub in the midst of foggy Georgian London?

I want to go to there.
