While it's no Life of Pi, it's certainly keeping my interest. I picked this up at the library a week ago, thinking that since I had liked Life of Pi, and due to the lifeboat ethics discussions we got into all my ethics and philosophy classes, I thought I'd give it a try... it's interesting, but only a little less than half way through, so we'll see how I progress. Haven't read a decent book since I have been back.

I had almost given up on this book, but I'm glad that I didn't... at least at this point... I haven't read the other two book about the detective but it seems that you don't have too... It's different in a good way... we'll see how it progresses over the next few days...

I continued with this book due to inclement weather and having a lot of time. I really felt that he has wanted to fit in with the young adult fantasy writers niche but at 540 pages, I highly doubt many teenagers plugging through this book. After a certain point I lost interest...It could have been significantly shorter and far more effective in telling the same story that he spent a lot of pages babbling over...

This book started off with a lot of promise. It's dividided into three parts, I just finished part one, and it's starting to loose it's zing... I'll give it a few more chapters to see how I feel before I make a final choice. It seems more for older teenagers and young adults rather than the children it claims it's a market for.... I certainly think Meloy had hoped to rank it with other higher end children's fantasy

Lara is 75% done with Memoirs of a Geisha
I'm really debating whether or not to continue. It's been painstakingly slow, and I've been losing interest in it the more I progress through it. I think I'll pretty much decide according to how I feel with the chapter I'm trudging through. Unless it pulls out a fair amount of bells and whistles then I'm more likely going to drop this from my reading, which is a shame since so many have suggested I read this book

Lara is reading Mao: The Unknown Story
They don't actually have a kindle option for editions of this book. It's a little intense and right now, with all that's going on in my life, I've put this on the back burner until I can give it more the attention it deserves...
