I am enjoying this, however, each chapter seems to be an essay in itself. I think I'm just going to read segments of it, and then pick it up again at a later date.

I should finish the book tomorrow. This book has its moments. I do find her a little brash and judgmental, and I actually find her segments from her journal to be more interesting read than the actual book; it's certainly a shame that she didn't include more or actually use the diary/journal instead of what she actually published. It's a shame that I've been reading more books this year that I don't really like.

For a debut novel, this book seems like it's going to be a good read

I'm not really sure I want to finish this book. I've always been fascinated with the Gobi, but the writing style of this book, and the sort of in your face attitude doesn't seem to give me much to continue

Lara is on page 50 of 400 of The Woman Who Could Not Forget: Iris Chang Before and Beyond The Rape of Nanking: A Memoir
The sentence structure in this book certainly makes it easier to read than many other biographies, and part of me wants to attribute that to the fact that English wasn't her first language. It flows, but it's just very formal, and the word choice is very much like the Chinese word choice, who learn English. I probably will read snippets of the book, but overall it seems like it's going to be a quick read, we'll see
