Definitely Dickens' silliest novel. But it's the one that made him famous. It's his acrobatic use of the English language that really catches me as a reader.

Scary but profound, scary, and strangely intuitive, Lovecraft knew the inner workings of the human mind quite well.

Encounter Science Fiction Short Stories & Novella 2nd Edition

Lovecraft is a brilliant writer. In just a few pages, he has my imagination engaged.

Okay, I'll admit that most of this book is so far over my head, suns could explode and I wouldn't notice, but I do find it interesting to read the back-and-forth discernment process between scientists, who "believe" whatever, depending on how the data falls and human proclivities toward an "intelligent designer" or not. Perhaps it does come down to faith.

Lots of food for thought here. Amazing how recent mathematical formulas and advanced technology teach us about things we thought we already knew.

I stayed up way too late reading this book. The back stories leading to the creation of the movies, the people involved, and the amazing dedication it took to bring this huge effort to a happy conclusion make for a remarkable human achievement.

It's a dense history book with lots of information, but I am fascinated by the mix of people who have called this small island home and how it has become such a powerful influence on the entire world.
