okay after getting more insight into kyo's true form and backstory, i feel like there has to be a deeper reason for kyo and yuki's hatred for each other. yes, there's secret jealousy on both sides, but with the way yuki is acting now, i feel like he must've said some awful shit to kyo when they were younger. akito probably nurtured the worst, most judgmental parts of him which he resents but can't let go of so easily

kazuma fucking saved him after his mother abandoned him and now he realizes that in order to save him again, he has to push kyo to see that he's not alone, that he can't run forever, that there can be more to his life than isolation and self-hatred turned outwards. wow i love them

i love how we've started to see some of the mothers of the zodiac throughout this volume, first with momiji and then with kisa, and now with kyo. her relationship with kyo is proof that just saying that you love and accept someone isn't enough. even as a child, kyo could tell that her actions didn't align, but tohru's DO. their hug was so beautiful i want it framed

KYO'S SMILE????? and him not wanting to show it in front of yuki just like yuki didn't want to laugh in front of him at the inn. fucking ouch! i hope kazuma's entry into the story is a way for us to learn more about who he really is underneath the angry act, plus this secret about his "true form" that just got brought up by kagura AGAIN. i'm waiting for more development for her too

it's really beautiful to see just how much everyone adores tohru!!! love getting more insight into saki and stepping back from all the soma family drama to recenter on tohru's original support system for a bit. i'm just so floored by all the character writing

with all their disagreements and the terror/hatred that they feel for akito it's easy to forget that the somas really do love each other so deeply. they can hug each other freely, it's just up to them to find the courage to reach out and accept the embraces. i'm so fucking proud of yuki for accepting the student council president position but i do think eventually facing akito will be a much harder step to take....

yuki resting his head on tohru's shoulder cause it's the closest he can get to leaning on her without hugging??? tohru's speech connecting herself, yuki, and kisa together as one??? they've all been made to feel worthless and felt too ashamed to admit that "weakness", but kyoko started the chain of emotional support and now tohru is passing it on

wow i love hatori, shigure, and ayame's bond so fucking much, they really bring out the best in each other. and hatori vowing to protect yuki, kyo, and tohru and make sure they don't end up like him???? my HEART

…..okay kyo is acting WEIRD so i’m gonna get out another theory now before we find out more. i think SOMEHOW he had a hand in the accident that killed kyoko cause it was a strange coincidence that both kyoko’s death AND kyo leaving for the mountains happened 4 months prior to the start of the story. why specifically mention that same time frame if they aren’t connected in some way

so ayame says here that yuki was isolated from a young age because of his medical issues but is that just a cover cause he doesn’t want to mention akito’s creepiness in front of tohru? does he genuinely not know? or does he not want to let himself realize the sheer horror of what he’s neglected for so many years? hatori and shigure definitely know….

oh my GOD i love yuki so much he deserves the world!!!! until yuki literally BEGGED shigure, did none of the other somas ever try to get him out????? were they all that scared of going against akito????? WHY??? i do not understand why they all let yuki be isolated like that for 15 years. what are his parents’ roles in all this??? ugh and akito being so certain that yuki will crawl back to him UGH UGH UGH

god i feel genuinely sick at how this is laid out. the flashes of yuki’s trauma never showing us the full picture but just enough to make us feel the disorientation and suffocation, akito’s gross body language and his sweetly manipulative words, yuki’s EXPRESSION. we’ve never seen him so shaken and it’s horrifying

this entire scene is deranged and ridiculous and i love it, especially knowing the whiplash that’s coming next

okay theory time, the son possessed by the monkey spirit that this woman is talking about is actually akito. i really thought he was the snake spirit but i’ve watched ahead in the anime and got that disproven, so monkey is the new theory!!!! although idk how much that fits personality-wise. but for her to mention this mysterious son right before we properly meet akito, and for both of them to be sickly?? suspicious

okay so shigure is in love with someone and while hatori and aya (another soma i assume) cried with him about it because they thought it would be impossible to ever act on that love, shigure is somehow using tohru to make sure that he can??? but in a different way than akito wants to use her??? and yuki and kyo getting along is also part of that plan???? the brain cells are in overdrive trying to figure this out

WHY EXACTLY CANT WE BLAME AKITO????? ugh the way he convinced hatori that it was for the best to erase kana’s memories was so gross and manipulative. “save her from this agony” and the agony is her loving hatori unconditionally??????? seems like the real problem is akito calling her useless and valuing someone who can break the curse over someone who’s willing to love one of them despite it……

oh i need to know more about shigure bc he’s been here from the very start and yet i feel like we know him the least. one minute, he’s saying to tohru’s face that they’re not using her and then in private he admits the exact opposite!!! he told harito not to blame akito for the kana situation but now we see that he clearly resents akito himself so ?????? WHAT is he plotting what is his deal what is his trauma
