Same writing from the author in a well laid out world. It should be after 25 books right? I always enjoy the struggle within with the main characters and the journey to become something more.

Reading this is like pulling teeth. Great story with plenty of brave men, but good grief. The writing is dense and filled with too many acronyms and expositions.

This is a heavy read. Just trying to slog through the names and acronyms- even though I am familiar- is a pain. I am a military historian but this book reminds me why I choose to write fantasy.

How in the world do I convert all my friends into followers??? C'mon, you know you want to....

Sad end to one character's arc, but there really was no other way to go for him.

Just finished a great read on the D Day invasion. Most of you will never know how close the Allies came to being thrown back into the Channel. There's a reason this was called the greatest generation.

I've been doing great with reading this year, and knocking out hundreds of jobs on Fiverr for other authors, but I swear I've only written about 5000 words of original work..... the show must go on, right?

Kind of has a film noir vibe to it. Still trying to get used to first person though- but that's a me issue, not the books.

Interesting- still don't care for first person.

Very clever books well woven with real figures in Victorian England and what they might otherwise have been.

Better, getting better....love the wit and humor he throws in. Reminds me of my time in the Army.

Got a little tired with the same thing happening in every chapter up til now. Drink. Fight. Drink. Fight. Looks like the storm is clearing and the story is about to get started.

Not bad so far. Enjoy how the characters have all been done before but not in this setting or this way. Very fast and enjoyable read.

Guess I'll give this one a try.

Now that things are rolling the story is getting more interesting.

Written well, the author clearly devoted great time to developing his characters and settings, but this is still pretty boring. It also reminds me of a smaller scale Dune, which isn't a bad thing.
