Having spent my share of time in both Iraq and Afghanistan, this book brings back memories- some good, some bad. Refreshing to see war told from the soldier's perspective, not a general riding a desk.

Where the 1st book was strictly a military campaign, book 2 was mostly social-political revolution. Book 3 ties both themes together. This series is a breath of fresh air.

Second half of this book picked up the pace, though the final battle was a bit wonky.

Not as engaging- at least for me- as book one but still a quality story. Wexler takes us to a setting similar to the French Revolution and the storming of the Bastille. As a historian I find it fascinating and try to imagine what it was really like

Different from the military campaign of book one, but ripe with intrigue and political manipulation of a kingdom on the verge of revolution.

This is a smart book.

Great series with intelligent twists to actual history. A little confusing at times however and some of the books tend to rehash the same story.

This is a great series with a major twist on actual historic events in England at the end of the 19th century. Recommend!

Fast story- brutal where it needs to be, and just a tad to dire, but fitting of a Joe Abercrombie story.

Having read the Heroes and Best Served Cold, I am becoming a fan of Joe Abercrombie.

I absolutely did not like the style this was written in. The story was ok, nothing special, but its Star Wars! Maybe it's just me but I can't get over how the back cover is stamped with the Disney logo. We all know Disney kills all it touches.

Always down for a good Star Wars story. This picks up in the wake of Return of the Jedi. The story is ok, but slow to get to the point. I am not a fan of the writing style. Too distorted and broken.

Not sure why this says there are only 448 pages. The book I have is in the 600s...must be digital vs print.

I've read this one before but don't remember it much.

A little too much profanity but the story gives Pinhead a better persona than the movies.

Very excited to read this. After nearly 30 years- the culmination of the Pinhead storyline. People seem to forget he began as a character in the Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker.

This isn't a bad book at all. The author has taken a lot of effort to build his world and it shows. The story isn't outstanding but it is engaging and entertaining- even though book one abruptly stops.

This page counter is waaaaay off. The book is closer to 900 pages.

My only negative comment about this series is that there are so many characters and ship names that I can't keep up with who is who or which side they are fighting for. Aside from that- it will be fun to start reading them from the beginning after the final volume is published. Best Weber series ever.

I absolutely love these books. Not a big Weber fan overall, but this series is on point.

Had to put this one on pause for now. Switched over to David Weber.

Totally unimpressed with this book. It is not written well and bounces between characters so fast without mentioning who it is that I find it hard to get into it for more than a few pages at a time. About 600 pages in and finding it hard to finish.
