This has been on my TBR for years and so far I really like the writing style

I have a feeling this book is going to be smarter than I am, but it also feels like a Emily St. John Mandel book, so I wanna hang in there and give it a shot.

Picked this first book up from Books A Million on my way home from vacation and found the audiobook on Scribd. Love the narrator and the story so far. Glad there are more books in this series.
Definitely gives me Morrigan Crow vibes (which I feel like every middle grade is being compared to now adays along with Amari, but this one is actually similar).

Not to offend the artist but some of these faces are questionable at best

I really hate to harp on this again, but this book definitely does that "explain a bit of magic and vaguely kind of talk about other parts, hoping the reader will just fill in the blanks" thing and it's *very* annoying. Yeah, kids probably wouldn't care but I feel like I've skipped whole pages about how this ish works and that sucks

Y'all. It took. 55% OF THE BOOK. To do what the synopsis said it would do.

I'm really liking this but I've also been listening for nearly six hours and not a ton has happened. I also feel like I don't really understand the connection between the underworld and the conjurers (maybe I missed something).

IDK why but I was just thinking how grateful I am that my parents didn't spent a ton of time in the "magic & witches in books will lead our children to the dark side" movement. Imagine how many books like this I would have missed out on?
There is just something about Middle Grades & self discovery & magic/fantasy/legends that go together perfectly. I will never get tired of a good, comfy, MG magic book.

Just got this from Libby. I am SO excited about it. Hoping it's a five star or at least a load of fun.

This novella and two other books in the trilogy have come out since I read the first one in 2018. So I'm hopping back in and starting with this one, since it is chronologically first.

Really like the book overall but can't deal with the mom trauma right now

Some of the narrators of the audiobook are really hard to listen to and it is taking 110% of my brain power to follow along. I'm going to put it down for now.

I just started this and it already feels like a mouthful o.o

For some reason I thought this was about magic but it wasn't originally on my TBR so I guess that's why.
Cyborgs are interesting too.

HA! I was getting worried that Yoshi would be good but I *WAS* right!! Scumbag

Yoshi reminds me of that guy who throws the bachelor party on the yacht in Crazy Rich Asians and he's getting on my nerves.

1. Feel like the cousin should has been named something other than Yoshi. I also don't trust him. He feels like the slimy blonde dude from The Princess Diaries.
2. As promised this is is giving me big Princess Diaries, The Selection, and Crazy Rich Asians vibes and I'm not mad at it.

Like the commentary so far in this but I'm also interested in the story.

Been on the wait list for this one for a while, so I decided to pick it up. But still desperate for an action adventure. Please send me some recommendations for some that aren't gory or graphically violent or has unaliving plots.

Need some humor in my life.

Don't really love threatening to unalive yourself as a weapon. Also, maybe I missed it, but are they just assuming the Gods can't get to this new school? Cora knows nothing about it and yet she's sure it will solve all her problems.

Okay if I have swapped one retelling of Beauty and the Beast for a Cinderella one, I'm out.

Okay. Here's the deal: I don't like books about fairies. In fact, since reading ACOTAR, I have actively avoided all fairy or fae books. It's like angels. We just don't jive.

However, the description for this book says that there is action adventure and a possible angsty love interest. I am desperately in need of a fast-paced book that sucks me in, so here we go.

This is giving me big penderwicks and Henry and Mudge vibes and I love it. He did just let out a breath he didn't know he was holding though.

Caved and bought the audiobook since I couldn't find it at any libraries and I wanted to finally get to this. I've have had it on my shelf since 2015, but always thought I'd like it, so I kept it for when all else failed. But then I never got around to it. So here we go. Fingers crossed this is good and unproblematic.
