This is the most white peopley, white peopling moment presented, but I'm glad that at least the MMC doesn't have this view, and it's his mortal enemy. That helps to keep reading the veneer of civility.

I don't read IR stories so knowing what I know abt the MMC makes the overly fawning in this scene so much easier to read and understand. Most of all, it adds a layer of complexity I can sort through now. I'm so glad the author was open and willing to help push me and give me a nudge so I could read comfortably.

I need to probably stop pre-ordering for books I don't ARC. I've been more disappointed than pleasantly surprised when I pre-order. Sweet cozy story so far

This book has been a sweet, refreshing read. I'm only going slow bc I need cray obsessive MMC 😄 and not sweet obsessive.

Not bad if you like the FMC as the sexual aggressor and he's the virgin. This is a realistic portrayal of a MMC virgin being open to learn from the woman he loves and she's the sexually experienced one.

Some good exposition to draw you in, but I loathe flashforwards that dip into flashbacks as intros like the death of a 1000 suns. It's my least favorite literary device when applied in this manner.

Jogging along briskly and then bam! The MMC has an opinion in the FMC I completely agree with. She is young in mindset. She isn't quite aware of the danger she is in. She isn't close to his equal. And it gives young and not really knowing of the world. But now I lack respect for the MMC bc he wants to make her his. 🤧 This weak infantile girl? DNF I guess.

The author's writing is excellent as always but I'm struggling with a ONS as their start and a slow burn. I just need something with a little bit more right now. I'll put this on pause. And come back.

I really have a problem with how domestic violence is being presented in this book. Not that it's there but how it's like her fault for still sticking around. Or it's ego that's keeping her from getting help. That irks my spirit. She was sold at 16 and then raped for 10 years by her "owner". That completely rearranges your brain. This is not a regular fuckboi situation

Abby is the type of FMC that's morally gray and if I knew that I might not have started reading . I like my FMCs to have a lick of common sense and the morally gray as a splash, like the women of the Consortium or Crenshaw Kings. So this will be interesting.
