This writing hurts. I don’t know if it’s the tense or the saltine-blandness of the simplistic writing but I almost dipped on page 2. I’ll read as long as I can, but this feels like a DNF.

Well this is… different. Think I came in expecting a gay Thornbirds or some such and instead got demonic dubcon, Midsommar craziness, and bootlegging?😅 ok. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Well this has been interesting… 😅 Benjamin started out self righteous and insufferable, then his naïveté made me feel sorry for him, now it’s a bit of a combination. Also, the romance is strange. I was actually rooting for a reunion with Tom -possibly even a throuple situation😆- but I guess Frederick is our sole love interest. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m enjoying this well enough that unless it takes a bad turn later, I see myself reading the other two 👍🏾

Eryx’s green eyes are referred to FIFTY FIVE times in this book. JFC we get it; they’re green! Between the barely there sex scenes, OTT love declarations, what I feel is excessive detail about the war/military, and the way spartan society in general turns my stomach (slavery, toxic masculinity, and women as breeding stock YAY🙃), currently, I don’t understand the book’s high rating at all.

I’m kinda bored…

I quit. I’m cringing and rolling my eyes way too much to continue.

Not a fan of Cinderella stories and this feels super that so far. All the MCs who aren’t the caricature villains are sweet and kind and dad perfect tralala ✨🌈🙄 hopefully depth of any kind is forthcoming… 🤞🏾

This writing is so basic it’s almost painful. Taking a break that’ll likely turn into a DNF.

I quit due to boredom. I’ve skimmed so much seemingly useless info that it feels pointless to continue.

Not a fan of this writing style so far and there’s been way too much detail about horses, but I’m holding out hope it gets better.

The romance in this almost feels like an afterthought or at least like a B plot…🫤

Well this is different. 😅And I’m here for it. Unless it goes spectacularly off the rails later, I’m going back to read the first one.

I needed a slower burn after reading a bunch of insta love shorts and novellas, and this is definitely that. A shifter romance where two people actually have to get to know each other and aren’t insta love fated?? Shocking. 😆

The villains in this series have been pure OTT comedy, and a river of cheesy corn ran through all three books. 😆

Knowing how cheesy and corny I found book 1, if I hate this it’s on me 💁🏾‍♀️🤡😅 but I liked Dax enough from the first one to at least give this one a shot.

So the sex is good but both MCs come across as misogynistic douchebags who I’m having big trouble liking… 👎🏾🤷🏾‍♀️

This one started stronger than the first one, and I like the characters more 👍🏾

Finally coming back to this. Here’s hoping it sticks this time 🤞🏾😆

It wouldn’t’ve surprised me one bit if they’d all turned out to be werewolves/shifters at some point. That’s how random this whole thing felt 😆 and so loooooong. Glad it’s over.

Yesterday I called this a cartoony soap opera, but I forgot the really bad “action”. It’s like if 12 year old boys wrote a B movie.

What even is this book?😅🤦🏾‍♀️ for awhile it was ridiculous pwp where I thought everyone was secretly on ecstasy, then it went left and tried to get a plot and now I feel like I’m watching the most OTT cartoony soap opera ever. I don’t think anything anyone’s done this whole book felt believable or made sense 😂

I have some questions about that cover and I didn’t see a particular thing coming from the blurb, but this has been fairly enjoyable otherwise.

If only I had a dollar for every time I’ve rolled my eyes or taken an exasperation break 🤗😅
