Both of the last two in this anthology really hit the spot.

I liked that one, too. Very exciting setting/plot with the cop and the Mossad agent. Really liked that, while it was set during Christmas time, Hanukkah featured prominently as well. Nice holiday celebration addition.

WTF!? I'm listening to an audio book with a Scottish narrator (while doing chores/cooking)...and now, the very next story in this anthology is about a Scottish copper. I'm gonna combust with frustration before the weekend is over...

Ha! Heaven save us all from interfering siblings & best friends, LOL. But *sigh* a long lost love reunited is always a tale to worm it's way through the cracks in my stone-cold-hard heart.

Oh holy fuck - the narrator's Scottish accent is doing all sorts of naughty things for me.

Oh gawd...why in the hell did Amy have to go and make Grant all human, broken & dying. I spent most of this book pissed at him, and now I just feel sorry for him. A life NOT well-lived; somehow that cancer feels like it's meant to be a living manifestation of the secrets and lies that ate him up.

*FLAIL* OMG comparing Mackey to a shooting star. Also the name of one of Bad Company's best songs. A heart-breaking song about a rock star who grew up desperately wanting the fame & glory then blazed brightly...only to go out in a haze of drugs and alcohol - which would have been the fate in store for Mackey if Trav hadn't sent him to rehab. Bad Company is my number one, ever, in the history of life, favorite band.

Jeezus. I didn't see that show, or hear the music played at concert...but I *FELT* like I was there. Words used well are simply amazing. (Also, another instance of the term "song-fucking" and I died a little inside because the one artist I've ever felt song-fucked by - live - was Prince which made me cry and cry and cry...)

This has already been a really shitty fucking year give all of the great musicians we've ALREADY lost. I'm just heart-broken over this; Prince is one of those artists you sell your shit to go see - which I did, and I've never been sorry for it. RIP, man. Nothing compared 2U.

This is one helluva saga; I've spent less time watching entire seasons of television shows than I'll spend listening to this. (Not a complaint - I tend to mainline entire seasons in one sitting.) Good thing I had Spring Cleaning to work through...I'd have never gotten it done watching TV, or trying to read.

I like Trav...a LOT. He's a no-bullshit kinda guy and he ain't gonna put up with none of their nonsense. Outbreak Monkey needs him to whip them into shape for realz.

Not ashamed to say that scene with his mom fixing his hair for the performance made me cry. I feel like some days my boy doesn't want me to help with...well, anything anymore. Feels like he doesn't need me at all some days, so I guess I can hope that maybe, just maybe, he'll want my help in a couple of situations from now till he's grown...and I'll live for those times when I can baby my baby.

Seriously - a stuffy, proper, educated, somewhat aloof and contrary guy...being held for ransom by this gruff, slightly smug, cunning captain of a "pirate" spaceship. If this isn't a porny Mal/Simon wet dream I'll eat my pretty floral bonnet. (Why, yes - I do have one. A cunning hat, too.)

So, a "Captain" who unsuccessfully commanded a small brigade of independent soldiers fighting to keep their world from being annexed into the all powerful Allia--er, Empire. A captain and crew that would rather now commit some crime than live under that oppressive rule. So, they were angry at being meddled with and had just delivered a load of smelly livestock...JFC is this a Firefly fanfic?

Ugh, already with the ethical quandaries for me; hello, HIPPA privacy rules? Also, Nick is under Luka's direction (nutritional, but still). No, he's not a doctor, nurse or shrink but there is a duty of care and it's kinda squicking me out especially as it's in a clinic Nick has no option but to stay in or go to jail. I'mma need an Obi-handwave for this...

Of course Kyle would be there in the courtroom - part of him needs that closure as well, even if he wasn't the one that got hurt trying to subdue the school shooter. He feels like he's lost the one thing he'd always have: Sean. And hopefully, after that uncalled for outburst (srsly? Ok father grief but damn) Sean's realized that no one can take everything from him because he's already lost what mattered: Kyle.

I'm kind of glad that I couldn't find an audiobook version of this. A) Because of all the sex. JFC that's not a complaint but I don't know if I could take that much ear porn without stopping for, uh, relief. B) The drama of this would probably give me heart palpitations. I can get overwhelmed by what I see & hear; the arms of my leather lazy boy still have half moon scars from my nails thanks to that BSG ep. "33"

It took me a while to decide but yeah, no, I didn't like Rory's "voice" for this. It sounded too rough, too edgy for a geeky guy. I wouldn't want it high and squeaky or whatnot, but *shrug* IDK, I just didn't like it.
