Can anyone tell me why/when Marcus became such a dick, 'cause I feel like I missed something.

This is one of those books that I was all excited about when I was anticipating its release, but then when I actually had it in my hand I was a bit reticent to start.

Reading a bit this morning on the train, though, I happily fell right back into it and look forward to continuing the journey.

Of course, I have a little under 700 pages still to go, so we'll see how I feel by the end! ;)

Me: *blush* I know. When I saw the name I thought it was ridiculous, but it's gotten some good reviews in the YA group, and I saw it at the library the other day.

Jer: Is it any good?

Me: I don't know - I just started.

Jer: But, seriously... Vampirates?

*snerk*

I am sick and effing tired of being told I'm "wrong" for having a different opinion from someone.

Cute story so far. I'm not even minding the self-aware "dear reader" tone as much as usual.

I'm having a hard time keeping focused. It's well-written and all, but it's just not really holding my attention. :-\

I'm kinda bored... I think it might be more interested if I hadn't seen the movie, though, 'cause a lot of it is built around the secrets and I already know what those are (assuming they're the same). Like any magic trick, it's not as cool if you know how it's done...

This book isn't reading anything like I expected it, but I've managed to let go the need for it to fit my expectations and just go with it. I'm enjoying it, though I couldn't even begin to tell you what kind of book it is.

I'm not sure what I thought this book would be when I picked it up, but I didn't expect high school drama with socialite brats. Rereading the blurb I'm wondering how I thought it would be anything else. I think I got blinded by the fact that I love the time period and I thought a story told from a flapper perspective (instead of the usual gangster) would be awesome. But I'm not giving up - we'll see how it goes.

I'm actually kinda liking it.

Don't usually read tie-ins or fan-fiction type stuff, but it was picked for a group I'm in and I do love me some Firefly. Not bad so far.
