Me, My Shelf, & I > Recent Status Updates

Okay actually this is so good and I'm really enjoying it. Not only am I learning, but it's so accessible and wry that it makes the learning a pleasurable experience. Sure, a lot of the content is honestly horrific and dehumanizing, but Deloria handles it so well and I really appreciate his voice.

It is *wild* how often I keep thinking this was written in modern day and a direct response to current events... but it was written in the 60s. i--

this feels so very Firefly to me with the crew and the plots. but I'm having fun with it!

Quite enjoying this one so far. I feel like there's more action and intrigue than the beginning of Briar, so that bodes well.

I have to admit that I think this might be a little too YA and predictable for me. From the very beginning, I feel like I could see the whole trajectory of the book based on the prophecy and inciting incident. So it feels like a bit of a slog to read through it all to get to the inevitable conclusion. And nobody's fun enough to make the journey worth it.

Will update if it ends up throwing me for a loop, though.

I'm waiting for the fun scifi time to kick in, but so far this is just a Contemporary novel and that's not my thing. :/
