I didn't read at all yesterday and I think it's kinda because I was avoiding this book. I think I'll jump ahead to ~80% and see if it makes me want to finish, or just DNF

the beginning had some really beautiful, atmospheric prose. but honestly this narrator is really interfering with my enjoyment. every. single. sentence. is rising and falling with so much drama. calm down. just read the book.
like I don't want an emotionless robot, but I genuinely prefer AI to this style.

This really hasn't been what I was hoping for. I think we're finally ramping up to something, but mostly it feels like a list of people who saw the writing on the wall and were fired or quit one after the other.

alright, here we go. just covered a section where facebook wanted to court and help the fascist and far-right parties (specifically at least France and Germany) get into office because it would ease their regulatory issues dealing with those countries

this 20% was a lot of big egos w/ little knowledge of how the world works, how you can't just apply American laws and culture everywhere, how they are out of touch because of their wealth, the way they hire their friends regardless of qualifications.
I do wonder if this wasn't told through the author's lens where she's always knowledgeable and right, what would it look like? and why did she stay complicit so long?

So far mostly a memoir on her career pre-Facebook, convincing Facebook to hire her, and how uninterested/unaware/unprepared Facebook was for the political nature and implications of their product.

this is an incredibly long romantasy and I'm honestly struggling to see why. so very little has happened in this book. there's nothing I'm hating, but also nothing I like.

I hate to say it, but I am bored so far. I was expecting something a lot juicier or with little anecdotes. So far it mostly feels like a lot of people seeing red flags and quitting
