Feeling kinda disappointed in this so far, and starting to think The Fake Mate was maybe an anomaly.
It's not bad, but it reminds me (in the bad ways) of For the Worst by Rosie Danan. And also does my pet peeve a LOT which is to say "for some reason" or "I just know, "etc allllll the time. ugh. It's as bad as asking your parents "why" and they just say "because" 😒😒😒

I think I've morphed from annoyance to genuine loathing.
This plot twist is the stupidest one yet. I was actually speaking out loud like "please no" until the reveal happened and then couldn't stop groaning. My spouse looked over cause he thought something was wrong, but it's just this stupid book.

I really hate how this is written. The story itself isn't bad, but the writing drives me batty.
Whenever Inez is by herself she's full of questions like "Why did it have to be me?"
Whenever she and Whit actually communicate, they suddenly and conveniently start unraveling all the details they couldn't and shouldn't know (and they're never wrong)

I really find this experience to be so ahhhhhh.
On the one hand there are elements I like and the read is easy to get through and I'm curious about what will happen.
On the other hand I'm constantly frustrated by the MC and her rampant naivete that everyone takes advantage of. It's both repetitive and infuriating.
Like I think I hate this but also I'm gonna finish it?
