oh no, I think this is pretty bad. the main character is trying to be so edgy, the vampire "loves" her for no reason except that their souls are joined or something? but never anything specific about her except that she's "fiery," the friends are obnoxious, the writing is terrible (heavy use of "Whatever." as an entire sentence on multiple occasions), and it's not even smutty as a distraction. boo

I'm really enjoying this one. Pratchett is very clever in how he approaches the religion and currently is exploring the concept that organized religion is corruptible by its leaders, eventually allowing for them to essentially supplant the god whose words they're supposed to be preaching.

I started playing some trap/hip hop/rap/hype workout music while reading this today... and it weirdly really worked? And now I'm a little bit dying for an adaptation with a Spider-Verse style soundtrack following these Victorian murder mystery ladies.
Something about walking around in their trillbys with a bad bitch soundtrack in the background just delights me.

I'm a little worried about this so far.
While it was interesting to hear about minutiae in quill writing considerations I'd never thought about (eg which wing to take the feather from because of the natural curves/etc), the book also made the claim that envelopes weren't invented until the 1800s.
A quick google search shows that they were invented in 2000 BC, but didn't make it into UKmass production until the 1800s
