I think it's starting to pick up a little but I still really don't think the beginning is worthwhile

I can see why I saw a lot of reviews on reddit that DNFd around the 50% mark. this is very long and very meandering, without a lot of character or plot to tug you along. there's some atmosphere, but it's quite sparse

so far I have 0 attachment or intrigue in this at all. the main character has memory loss so there's a lot of info dumping and then flashbacking and nothing is really happening. there's no plot or atmosphere or magic system or SOMEthing for me to grab onto and be interested in

gonna give it more time beause this is a long ass book so I've barely started it really, but this is feeling like a DNF so far

this is a looooooong book. and it's not very eager to let go of the mysteries it's holding onto tightly. I'm moving into my new house and unpacking while I listen, so admittedly did find it slowed down quite a bit and I kinda zoned out, so I'll be relistening tomorrow (I should be caught up to at least 32% though)

not hating this so far! I kinda feel like this is what Welcome to Nightvale wanted to be

okay, there's nothing I like about this but I think it's mostly just cause I hate Historical Fiction. it doens't feel like a horror, it doesn't feel like a possession, it doesn't feel like a romance. it just kinda.... exists. not my vibe

slow ass start, gonna be disappointed af if nothing picks up steam. so far all that's happened has been: she's engaged, her parents are snobs, she's adopted, she flirted with a convict, and she wants to find her birth parents. am sooooo bored but trying to stay focused

I thought I would like this book because of the cozy, magical house vibes, but have been putting it off because I was worried about the triggering grief of losing a loved one. but as it turns out so far I don't find it triggering, just waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too cozy to the point of being dull

not quite sure what to think about this yet, reads a little young so far. I guess he's a good guy people-eater? so far he's waaaaaay too sympathetic and always in the right to be any kind of villain or enemies to lovers dealio.
I'm curious if the author-forewarned sex scenes will be a way they discover he can pull energy from her instead of eating her

this is incredibly long and getting increasingly naval gazey
I liked it a lot more when the two characters were playing off each other in between the long stretches of philosophizing
