First 3.5 months of the year had me speeeding through books, but this has def made me slow down in pace because I have to pay so much attention. Also, thesis stuff lol

Luv Kruppe. Luv Tool. 'Simple as.

Kruppe's character voice is just so distinctive, with so much depth to it. Every scene with him on the page is a treat.

I *loved* Duiker and Coltaine last book, so I miss not seeing them, but a cast of Whiskeyjack, Rake, Paran, Kruppe, and some others is just so strong.

Also, tool is babygirl, wishing this guy all the best

Great prologue

This series has so much heart

A pretty solid follow-up to the first book so far, but I think I prefer b1 over this. A lot of what I liked about b1 had to do with the setting and trying to figure out the mechanics behind the world, and that is pretty different here

A very strong start!

Yea, I guess i'm one of the very few who doesn't like this book as much as the first one. It's just not hitting me when it's supposed to :/

Wasn't a huge fan of the first 75-ish pages, as I don't think it did a good job at bridging its beginning to how Red Rising ended, kind of being a disservice to the events of Red Rising. The double false start was a bit jarring, too.

The next few chapters were a lot more encouraging, though.

Gonna finish this tomorrow and then start golden son straight after (which I never do)

Shaping up to be a solid 4 star read

Gonna have read it in like 7 fewer days than the last 2 times. I've always liked this book, but it's probably better than I remember? Especially part 1 and 2 which I remembered kinda being a bit ehh, but it's really not. It's the Shadesmar chapters that don't do it for me. It just doesn't feel like a very interesting setting. Same w RoW
