Wanna finish this before the end of the month but my eye is killing me 😞

First 60 pages kinda giving me bad vibes. After WASTING 150 pages on it last time, I do not need another arc of the biggest fucking loser in the world looking for his waifu

Will probs finish this tomorrow. Still really solid read. Not as hooked to the plot and characters as the first book, but still lots of fun

A lot of fun, but so far a step down from the first book. I'm less attached to the characters, and the story is less gripping.

As fun as the setting is, as good as the characters and dialogue is, Eames is especially good at nailing emotional beats, which makes this (but especially Kings of the Wyld) work as well as it does.

This series continues to be consistently solid

Weird book. Some really good moments surrounded by a whole lot of blehh. Don't understand how this one is so much more hyped than the first.

Also the premise of the main character that makes him interesting (and that was literally the character introduction in the prologue) has not even been slightly explored. Am i taking crazy pills? Start handling the alien sociology!!!!

With how fast im speeding through this book it might seem as if I like it a lot, which isn't necessarily the case. The first 200 pages were a slog, with 1 plotline in particular that actively pissed me off.

Since then the story actually began, and it's a lot more interesting now. But yeah, definitely a step down from the first book (which is odd cus I know book 2 is seen as better by the fandom)

So much more enjoyable with a larger cast of characters than Fitz being very very alone for 100s of pages at a time
