Nice!

Joseph Sverker 154 books, impressive is not even the word for it.

Julie Davis I keep resolving to read fewer books ... it never happens. Obsessions are that way. :-)

message 5: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Sverker That was the first time I ever heard anyone say something like that. As long as the obsession is as constructive as reading books it's okay isn' it? (And not completely pushing out the other values of life.)

message 6: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Sverker I don't know if I should challenge myself to read more or fewer books this year. I'll simmer on the decision for a little while I think.

I think because I want to read some very big books this year. And if I am thinking about the number of books I'm reading then I find myself hurrying through because I'm not "keeping up." I want for these book to take as long as they take. Plus I have a tendency to read pretty fast anyway, so if I'm pushing myself then I'm really skimming. Not sure if that makes sense ...

Joseph Sverker That makes much sense. I have the same feeling with the challenge, although I think it is a good way of keeping up my reading, but this year I want to read Heidegger, Jaspers and Gadamer (and Böll and Mann), and I hope I will read them with the respect and pace their are due.

Julie Davis What an impressive list! I tip my hat to you, sir! :-)

Joseph Sverker You might have to un-tip it by the end of the year though :-)
