That was the first time I ever heard anyone say something like that. As long as the obsession is as constructive as reading books it's okay isn' it? (And not completely pushing out the other values of life.)
I don't know if I should challenge myself to read more or fewer books this year. I'll simmer on the decision for a little while I think.

And if I am thinking about the number of books I'm reading then I find myself hurrying through because I'm not "keeping up." I want for these book to take as long as they take. Plus I have a tendency to read pretty fast anyway, so if I'm pushing myself then I'm really skimming. Not sure if that makes sense ...
That makes much sense. I have the same feeling with the challenge, although I think it is a good way of keeping up my reading, but this year I want to read Heidegger, Jaspers and Gadamer (and Böll and Mann), and I hope I will read them with the respect and pace their are due.
