"um. that's a crime. you can't lock your tenants out of their rented units. that's literally illegal, not a fun little character quirk. or does canada not have tenant rights?" — Jun 26, 2024 11:57AM

"I am enjoying the book, though, and finding it far more useful than the Dialogue one. I'm on the section about character's clothing reflecting their personality right now and feeling very inspired! Unlike the Dialogue book, this one already seems to have proper insight into its topic and the capability to convey that insight in a helpful way. Hopefully it'll keep it up!" — Apr 08, 2019 09:37AM

“Critics sometimes appear to be addressing themselves to works other than those I remember writing.”

“A critic is a man created to praise greater men than himself, but he is never able to find them.”

“Readers have the right to say whatever the fuck they want about a book. Period. They have that right. If they hate the book because the MC says the word “delicious” and the reader believes it’s the Devil’s word and only evil people use it, they can shout from the rooftops “This book is shit and don’t read it” if they want. If they want to write a review entirely about how much they hate the cover, they can if they want. If they want to make their review all about how their dog Foot Foot especially loved to pee on that particular book, they can."

“I am not even an atheist so much as an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. Reviewing the false claims of religion I do not wish, as some sentimental materialists affect to wish, that they were true. I do not envy believers their faith. I am relieved to think that the whole story is a sinister fairy tale; life would be miserable if what the faithful affirmed was actually true.... There may be people who wish to live their lives under cradle-to-grave divine supervision, a permanent surveillance and monitoring. But I cannot imagine anything more horrible or grotesque.”

“Why don't they cut their own children's ears into points to make them look sharp? Why don't they cut off their noses to make them look plucky? One would be just as sensible as the other. What right have they to torment and disfigure God's creatures?”
