Either that's a set-up, or you have a very open-minded husband. :)

I don't know about the open-minded part, but I think he is at least very brave to join me on my trip to the UK GLBTQ Fiction Meet. :-) So, there is always hope for an addiction like that, right? ;-)

Anyway, I thought that the combination of Josh's book and a tool box looked absolutely hot. Especially with a lovely cover picture like that. Sexy... :-)

A crazy weekend and start to the week. Tango Marathon with dancer-friends from Phoenix and Houston staying with us and all of us dancing until 2:00am five nights in a row. Then a two-day training-retreat for work. A little unfocused this evening. ; )

Calathea | 6034 comments Back home after Manchester and London, I took a little time to come down from my travel high. So many impressions and new stuff and cool people!
I've been sifting through the pictures I took (no less than 551!) and picked out some to share with you.

First we have Josh's Perfect Day on the Prime meridian at the Greenwich Observatory. (not very spectecular I know but it gives me a kind of childish joy to see things devided by that line )

Other tourists who waited in line to take their own pictures noticed the title and commented, that yes, it was a perfect day that day in Greenwich.

The second is Blood Red Butterfly in Kew Gardens in front of the Japanese Gateway.

I had a lovely time there, traipsing from shadow to shadow as it was veeerryy hot, taking my time, enjoying the scenery and sitting down now and then to read some. Miss Butterwith would have loved the big Victorian glass houses with all the exotic plants (poisonous and otherwise).

The next pic was taken in the British Museum. I didn't much think about it when I took the picture. Only later I noticed (when you look closely) that the damn thing was staring back at me! Talk about creepy... (after having read the last chapter of "The Haunted Heart" the night before I was a bit sensitized to creepy...)

And last but not least, here's a funny outlook on the possible development of m/m/m/m/.../m.

(Imagin The B 52's "Love Shack" played loudly as a soundtrack to the whole setup. I couldn't help but giggle all the time while wandering through M&M World.)

Heh heh. :-) Great pictures, Calathea! The Blood Red Butterfly looks really happy to be in the Japanese Garden with you. ;-) And I especially enjoyed the colorful m/m/m/m/m atmosphere in the last pic (with the Love Shack!!!). Really nice pics there! I love Kew garden... Also a perfect setting for "In sunshine or in shadow", with you having to maneuver between the sun and shelter! :-)

Calathea | 6034 comments Thanks all for the nice words. :-)
I very much enjoyed this trip!

Hj wrote: "Kew Gardens must have felt like an oasis in the heat."

As long as you sat in the shadow with a book it was wonderful. Take a step in the sun or just walk a bit I felt like slowly (or not so slowly) being roasted. ;) Nevertheless I walked at least 5 km that day in Kew Gardens.
While we waited for the ferry in Greenwich the other day we had to stand in full bright sun without any shadow for 30 min. I got out my umbrella (as stand-in for a parasol) really quick. After a while there were 8 or 9 other umbrellas open. I think I started a new trend. ;-)

thelastaerie wrote: "Also a perfect setting for "In sunshine or in shadow", with you having to maneuver between the sun and shelter! :-) "

Yes, you're right! I should have thought of that. Have a look at this pic. You see? Lot's of sunshine, some shadow. :-D
There was barely any green grass around btw. Same in Greenwich. Looks a bit like in Serengeti.

I have another one somewhere on my phone where they advertise "4 Levels of Fun". Oh, man, need to get my mind out of the gutter... ;-)

Here is a glimpse into my painting project with The Hell You Say at the summer cottage. Only when taking the photo I realized that the name of the paint is "Maestro". Very appropriate when used with Josh's book, don't you think! :-)

I love, love, love Kew Gardens. I used to go there all the time. You rarely see it looking dry like that. Well done on using your umbrella as a parasol - they do say you should not leave home without one and you proved that on a day when I'm sure no rain was forecast! We've had a thunderstorm or two the last couple of days, so it's cooler and wetter now.

Wow, those walls are high! Love the juxtaposition of the audiobook and the paint.

You said somewhere that the project is running behind schedule - I hope you're not going to miss your Muse concert this weekend?? - somehow I doubt that's an option...

I have a happy hedgehog story to tell. I met this incredibly hungry little guy in my garden today and he seemed to enjoy the dog food enormously. :-) He kinda looks like Max, don't you think...?

After Max got his tummy full he took a little nap under the hedgerow. Look how tiny he is compared to Come Unto These Yellow Sands. :-)

And yes, I do realize that I make you guys look at hedgehog photos like these EVERY AUTUMN... but I was SO HAPPY to meet a hedgehog that was actually ALIVE that I just had to take a pic of this one for you guys. :-)

Reggie I had a beautiful and scrumptious vacation. I went on the Alaskan Cruise with DH and friends. Now I have to diet and turn up the exercise. But it was worth it!

At a Yukon eatery, I took a picture of a pet ground squirrel.

His name is 'Soupstock'. *grin*

message 597: by Reggie (new)

Reggie The pictures don't look very good in thumbnail. So I put some into Photobucket if you are interested. Alaska is beautiful. Some towns are only accessible by boat &/or plane. Wi-Fi has certainly helped the locals. I don't think I would be happy being that isolated. It was very peaceful though. 8)
