This reminds me of one spring when we didn't have a car yet, only a motorcycle. The motorcycle season starts here somewhere in the beginning of May, although you usually have to wear A LOT of clothing to avoid freezing while driving your motorcycle that early in the spring. Anyway, we drove our motorcycle to a market garden to buy violets, the first spring flowers to our erstwhile balcony (that actually looked a lot like Anne's balcony!). When we headed back home, it started snowing — hard. Hubby was driving and I was sitting behind him with two huge, open boxes of violets in them. And the snow was whirling around us. By some kind of miracle those violets survived the storm and the journey. I'll never forget it. :-)

Those little flowers are pretty tough! We have varieties which flower through the winter. Of course, our winters in England aren't as hard as yours!
Pool is up, violets are in bloom. Yay!

My poor violets are having a hard time. It isn't snowing, though, so we are thankful for small blessings :)

LOL. Yes, I was holding the boxes. :-) Transporting large objects became some sort of art form for us because we were determined to manage only with a motorbike for years. You guys couldn't believe the stuff we carried on our bike. One time I fell in love with this beautiful, old chandelier in Stockholm and after some arranging (and... ahem... argument) we somehow managed to bring it home to Finland on the bike. :-)
But... our Jack Russell terrier never got used to traveling in the tank bag... and that's how the first car came into our little family. The dog has us "wrapped around her paw", I'm afraid. ;-)

Is it still snowing there, Juthi? Here is another snow related motorbike story to cheer you up. :-)
We had just bought the bike and decided to make our first, a little longer trip with it to visit hubby's parents in Rovaniemi, Arctic Circle. This happened on the very last day of May. Well, everything went well until we woke up in the morning of the first of June. We were laying in the bed wondering why the room looked so bright — there seemed to be something wrong with the light flooding in from outside. It looked too... luminous. Too... white.
Hubby was the first one to stumbled to the window and... It had snowed during the night! And not only a little, but a lot — about 8 inches (20 cm)! There was no way we could have ridden our motorbike back home. So, after a few phone calls we ended up sitting in the train and the bike ended up in a removal truck that happened to be driving to our city that day. That was awkward. ;-)

I'm also loving the adventures on a motorbike series. I particularly like the way they also feature one of the things I associate with Johanna, namely snow. If any of them also include squirrels (or reindeer), then she'll hit the bullseye!

Squirrels and snow in the same story would be hard, reindeer on the other hand... I look forward to that story too :)

Anyway, I'm quite happy that I actually don't have a story that involves both our motorcycle and a reindeer in it. Because that was probably the one and only thing I was afraid of while riding a bike — that we'd accidentally hit a moose or a reindeer. I've seen first hand what that does to a car. I didn't want to experience it when riding a motorbike.
But I do have a story about a freezing trip to Legoland. :-) Hubby, who was over 30 at the time (!), wanted to go to Legoland in Billund, Denmark. Well, there was the World Exposition in Hannover, Germany in that summer, so we agreed that if he gets to see Legoland, I'll get to visit the World Exposition. And off we went. The summer had been extremely hot in Finland, so we left the warm linings of our motorcycle clothing home. It was already awfully hot and we were heading south, right?
The moment we arrived to Central Europe the weather turned absolutely freezing. I don't remember ever being so cold! And it was July! I remember shivering so much that I hardly managed to stay on the bike — and this went on for two weeks. I guess the Legoland and the World Exposition were ok, but I mainly remember how awfully cold it was. ;-) Every time we stopped for a night and reached our room, we immediately crawled in the bed under the blankets and didn't come out before the morning. That's the fondest memory I have of that journey: the warm, lovely nest under the guesthouse blankets! LOL.

I remember that it rained the whole day when I went there with a friend. What I remember best, though, are the Italian police officers... ;-)

I associate you guys with a lot of things too (just like you associated me with snow). That's probably because we don't see each other and don't know what the other one looks like. There are the profile pictures, of course, and I do associate you with those, but with a lot of other stuff too. Interesting. ;-)

You bet I was there. :-) For a memorable, loooong, rainy, freezing day. I have even pictures to prove it. My face looks blue in them. ;-)

They had a concept for that Expo (or is that for all of them) that they had police officers from all over the world there on site, who also represented their countries.

While I was sitting on my front porch reading CUTYS, I heard the Canadian Geese honking and went to investigate.----
Originally, there were 2 families this group with 3 goslings and another with 5. This creek is across the street from my house. We usually have the migratory Geese stop by, but this is the first family I've seen. 8)

I thought you all might enjoy seeing some photos of the Northern Shenandoah Valley in Virginia (where Mark and Stephen live in In From the Cold: The I Spy Stories). A friend took me and my husband up for a short flight in a little Cessna last month. It was a lot of fun. We flew from Winchester south to Woodstock and back.
Signal Knob (Massanutten Mtn.) -- Stephen would know the importance of Signal Knob as an observation and signal station during the Civil War:

They're not the best pictures (taken with my phone) but luckily it was a clear day. Everything is very GREEN now since we have had a ton of rain this spring, but by August it won't be looking so great.;-)

Josh said on his blog that coming to audio quite soon is the In From the Cold collection of I Spy stories. Yippee!
