Antonio León | 2 comments Hello everyone. I will try to _ introduce myself briefly. My name is Antonio, I live in Mexico City and I am very interested in groups created like this of people who like to read. Also I congratulate you for the good books that you guys recommend. I have one question Is it possible to read 49 books a week?. Today I had an exam and I had to read seven books on Sunday, obviously not by choice hahaha, I guess if it is for pleasure maybe is possible How many books you guys read weekly ? haha Never mind greetings!

Kidada (kidada_williams) | 2 comments Hi. My name is Kidada. I am a history professor, author (of They Left Great Marks on Me), and lover of fiction. As I develop a new book project, I have to do a lot of reading of new history scholarship on the era of the Civil War and Reconstruction. So, my reading challenge this year includes a LOT of non-fiction. Because I love my career, I see this year's non-fiction readings as a labor of love and not as a burden. Nevertheless, since fiction is my first reading love, I hope that more than half of the books I read this year will be thrillers (Broken Harbor), great literary works (Bring up the Bodies), historical novels (Kindred, the Cutting Season, & 12 Tribes of Hattie), etc.

message 604: by DENISA (new)

DENISA HOWE | 125 comments Welcome Kidada... It is very nice to meet you.... Fiction is my first love and main love... History isn't quite my cup tea but occasionally and if it has a great story line.. I all in...
Welcome to the group

message 607: by BattyKat (new)

BattyKat (prosserkat) Hi! I'm Kat and I had set myself a challenge of reading 60 books this year. I had a job when I set that challenge. Now I don't and I'm 1/2 way or more to my goal.
Reading isn't my only vice, tho. I also lurk for HOURS online. I crochet. Occasionally I knit. I watch crappy SyFy channel movies. I catch up/re-watch TV series on Netflix. I have pets. I have a husband. I have friends.
I have a whole new family. (My dad recently remarried.)
The two things I DON'T have taking up my time anymore.. a job, and roller derby.(I retired from derby when my mom was dying of cancer a few years ago.)

Anywho. Hi!

Caitlin Hi! I'm Caitlin. I'm a teacher, a barista, a nanny, a builder, a writer/story teller in training, and an avid reader.

I'll read just about anything... as long as there's a good story to it. Last year, I beat my goal of reading 60 books, and this year I'd like to at least match that.

Favorite writers include Jonathan Kozol, Jean M Auel, Michael Eric Dyson, and JK Rowling.

I'm determined to get back into reading regularly and have challenged myself to read 100 books this year.

Michele Beacham (michelebeacham) Hi, I'm Michele. I just stumbled upon this group recently. I'm a grad student at UCLA, hopefully soon to be a librarian! My challenge for the year is 100 books Last year I read 97, and it seemed like I should be able to get to those last 3. I'll read almost anything, but I love mysteries, books about travel, science fiction, and YA quite a lot. I'm also a sucker for anything that involves reading things off of a list and reading challenges

Donna (dcraven08) | 14 comments Hi Denisa, i go through phases of different styles of books i like to read...currently i'm into YA books - twilight, vampire diaries and my current read which i've been very excited to get started on is 'Where She Went' by Gayle Forman. I loved her first book, 'If I Stay' and couldn't wait to get a copy of the second book - which I am now currently reading. I would really like to start experimenting a little more and maybe reading books that I probably wouldn't choose! Lovely to meet you :)

It is very nice to meet you and have another person to discuss books with.

Angela (blibble173) Hi, I'm Angela, I'm 16 years old and have a mild addiction of reading. Jennifer Hi! I'm rejoining Goodreads after a long hiatus and am joining this group because I need some motivation. I have an 8 month old, and since he was born I've stopped reading. I'm a librarian, so I'm around books all day, but by the end of the evening I just want to collapse. So I have a very small goal this year, but I think it will still be challenging.

I understand wanting to read books one already has... In my library I have them arranged by type and ABC and the I have little dots on the spine of the ones I haven't read yet. They are little pin size dots nobody can see unless they are looking for it.

Once I move and can set up the new house the way 'I' want it, I can have a bookshelf or 3 for all our paper books. Then I might just have to do something like that!
Hubby gets his own bookshelf or two for all his graphic novels. He's a comic book collector in such that he could easily open his own store.
