Hi I'm Amanda mum of 3 kids .I have always loved reading and wanted to write books when I was younger .
My favourite books are horror especially Stephen king but will try any book.
Welcome, Amanda! What's your favorite Stephen King book? I read The Stand earlier this year and enjoyed it quite a bit.
I used to be Mallory Anne-Marie Forbes (guess I still am LOL) but for online reading-reviewing-review blogging purposes I am "Mallory Heart Reviews." I've been voraciously devouring books since tiny childhood, back in another century (literally). I've reviewed online off and on since April 2007. I am an unpublished author. My tastes are wide-ranging: Horror, Supernatural, Historical, Mystery/Suspense, Thriller, Horror, Paranormal, STEAMPUNK, true crime. I guess my favourite historical era is Victorian/Edwardian (hence my total love for Steampunk). Stephen King and Dean Koontz formerly were my favourite authors, but to that I added P. C. Hodgell, some Terry Goodkind (The Law of Nines) and in 2012 I've discovered (whee!) Michael Koryta ( I started my own GR fan group for him), Michael Marshall Smith, Dennis Lehane, and Kealan Patrick Burke. I also love to participate in reading challenges of all sorts.
Hi i'm Devynne and i just joined the group it took me forever to find the wright group to join because your group like mine where we can read whatever we want. I've been reading ever since i was little and never stop reading. I even read books to my horses when their grazing in the pasture. :)
Welcome, Devynne! Yes, the plan is to keep it going every year. We'll come up with new yearly challenges and change the group name. :)

Welcome to the group Amy! We all have had the experience of driving someone crazy talking about books. :D It is nice to have an outlet!
Hey everyone! My name is Amanda and I am a mom of 3. I enjoy reading when I get some time to myself, haha!
My neighbor recently gave me quite a few books and I am just starting to dig into them. :D

We have so much in common! When I was little I wanted to be an author desperately and we both have 3 kiddos. :)
Thanks for the welcome! I am new to this site and I am not sure how it all works exactly so be patient with me please :)
Hello, I'm Cherise. I'm a big fan of historical fiction, but I read nearly anything I find interesting. I'm currently on the latest book of the ASOIF book and can't wait to move onto my growing piles of books I've gotten through amazon from my kindle. My goal is 25 books this year, mostly because of the length of the books I read. And I just got into the whole group thing on here.
Hi, I'm Mondalia. I'm 15 and love reading. Now I have vacations and plenty of time to read. I don't have a goal for 2012, because I joined in june and have no idea how many books I read before. But I'm sure I'll do it next year.My english is not that perfect, but I try to make it as good as I can.
Welcome, Cherise and Mondalia! Let us know if you have any questions.Cherise, I read A Game of Thrones, but I think I need to reread it then start the others. How do you feel about the series as a whole?
Mondalia, your English seems great! What kinds of books do you like to read?
Kara, I think the writing is okay, but the plot is what keeps me reading. There are a lot of dry moments you have to push through, but when the plot picks up, it's hard to put it down.

I do agree thought that in the first and second there were times when the plot was really slow, but as soon as it got going I could not put the book down. Have you watched the show yet? It's equally as good as the books. The acting is absolutely awesome.

I have the first season on my Netflix Queue, though. So I will soon, hopefully. But yes, you'll love that one.
Hi, I'm Martha and I love to read. GR is my favorite social network. Readers are such great people!! I love anything that is a good story, but my absolute favorite genres are mystery, history & historical fiction. I particularly love reading books set during war time, mostly how life was on the home front, and I really love it when I find a non-fiction that reads like fiction!! I'm looking forward to trying my first steampunk this year. It's a recommendation from a GR friend.I'm a wife, mother to 3 sons (2 of them chose great 'daughters' for me) and 5 grandkids. One son is in a blended family so I got 5 grandkids in 3 years. Did life and priorities ever change for us!! LOL
Kara, I love The Stand although it's been years since I read it. It was my favorite SK book, but I read 11/22/63 a few months ago and I think it has surpassed The Stand. Wonderful book, Stephen King at his best!
I love challenges, but rarely finish on time. Still they are so much fun!
Hi Martha! Have you read The Book Thief? It's set during a war; it is a young-adult book, but when we did a buddy read of it a few months back we all enjoyed it. :)Welcome to the group!
No, but I have it, Trevor. I'm waiting to read it for one of the challenges in another group. I'm excited to read it. I've heard only good things about it.
I'm glad you made your way over, Martha! It's great to have you.We have a bunch of yearly challenges that might be easier with the longer time frames. And if you've read any books up until now that would meet the challenge requirements, you can retroactively add them!

I'll have to check them out. Won't have time until Sunday probably. I'm a Special Olympics coach and am taking 32 of my athletes to the area bowling competition tomorrow ... not by myself, of course. :-) It will be a long day, but so much fun!!

Hello everyone! I just found this group last week through a fellow member (Connieb). There are a lot of 'Challenge' groups out there, but I really like how active and creative this one is. I can't wait to get started and involved. I hope to get to know some of you soon!
Welcome, Nikki and Katee! We're excited to have you. Nikki, I hope you enjoy Goodreads! If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask the group--everyone here is helpful. :) Katee, looking forward to seeing you join the challenges! Like I told Martha, you can always retroactively add any books to existing challenges if you'd like to join in.
