Neville | 84 comments Finished the 5th in the Fredrika Bergman series The Chosen by Kristina Ohlsson The Chosen (Fredrika Bergman and Alex Recht #5) by Kristina Ohlsson .

Rated it 4 stars - More interaction with intelligence agencies from multiple countries in this book.

Enjoyed it as I have with all the books in this series based in Sweden.

Her last book in this series at this point in time, but she has stated there will be more.

Wow!! 5 stars - twists and turns, action and fast pace all the way through - would have read it in one go if I didn't have to get some sleep.

Her books are a pleasure to read - a wonderful author.

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) Distinctly underwhelmed by the Harry Bosch story I've just finished as part of the quarterly challenge... :(
Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly, a lukewarm 3★s from me. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 2474: by MaryG2E (new)

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) A YA mystery/thriller which was somewhat mediocre, and rather disappointing, I'm afraid to say:

Neville | 84 comments Finished no. 25 in the Commissario Guido Brunetti series The Waters of Eternal Youth The Waters of Eternal Youth (Commissario Brunetti, #25) by Donna Leon by Donna Leon.

Gave it 5 stars.

All this series is quite different to most other detective series as it mostly takes place in Venice, hence no cars, only small boats etc. and a lot of walking. The pace is always slower and plenty of eating and drinking described, and Guido's family meals.

I was lucky enough to have spent 2 days in Venice in 2000.

Have read half a dozen or so of this series, and enjoy them also. Always on the lookout for more :)

PattyMacDotComma | 816 comments If you love books, you might agree that someone should definitely build a real Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore as a shop or library like the one in Robin Sloan's delightful book of the same name.
Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, #1) by Robin Sloan

A quirky mystery that ranges from ancient tomes with codes to the power of modern Google.

a 4.5★ read for me. My review:
