message 202: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Ana, we are doing A Game of Thrones A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin this month. Feel free to join in our discussion!

I will join in Outlander with you whenever you'd like to. (Just not this month as I'm doing both A Game of Thrones and The Count of Monte Cristo). How about Outlander in March, April, or May?

message 203: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 127 comments I've been wanting to read the girl with the dragon tattoo and war and peace for a while now, so I'd be interested in those ones.
I'm also in for Jane Eyre, Ulysses and les mis!
Others on my TBR that I'd like to tackle are shelf Anna Karenina, Atonement, 11/22/63, gone with the wind and the hobbit.

message 204: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments Ana, I'd be happy to read Ender's Game at any time in the next few months with you. I really want to read it quite a while before the movie comes out but that's not until October anyway.

message 205: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments I will ALWAYS read Ender's Game with anyone who wants to. It was one of my first sci-fi books, and I will always love it.

message 206: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 127 comments I've never really read science fiction so I think I will join in with Ender's Game, I'd love to try something new

I am totally up for Ender's Game, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and The Notebook. I'm going to try and read Outlander this month though. I'm just trying to decide if I want to buy it or check it out at the library lol

message 208: by April Lyn (new)

April Lyn (aprilallyear) I am currently not very far into Catch-22 and would love to have someone to discuss it with. Or at least to motivate me to pick it up more than once a week.

I am also interested in buddy reads for Sophie's World, The Thirteenth Tale, White Oleander, Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life, and/or The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

message 209: by Ashley (new)

Ashley April Lyn, I have Catch-22 on my reading list. I won't be able to get to it this month though. Would February or March work?

I would be happy to do a buddy read with you, and anyone else, on (but not necessarily all at once. LOL):

Sophie's World
White Oleander
Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle

Could this buddy read be towards the second half of the year?

Stefani - SpelingExpirt (speling_expirt) | 585 comments April Lyn and Zara -

I started Sophie's World years ago and have been looking for the push to finish it. I'd love to do a buddy read for it, I'm happy to do it at any point.

I want to reread Ender's Game! Feb sounds good!

Anni (mesmeria) April Lyn wrote: "I am also interested in buddy reads for Sophie's World, The Thirteenth Tale, White Oleander, Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life, and/or The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. "

I'd like to join in on The Thirteenth Tale. I borrowed it from the library this week, what time frame did you have in mind? I can probably stretch the loan (by renewing it online) until April or so.

Would anyone like to read American Gods with me sometime this spring? I own the book, so the timing doesn't matter that much, but I'd like to finally read it!

message 217: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Anni, I would love to read American Gods with you. Anytime works for me.

Awesome! How about March? I have a few books I want to get out of the way before diving into that one.

February and March sound good to me!

I'll join with American Gods as well for March. ^.^

message 220: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments February for Ender's Game is good for me too.

message 221: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments March sounds perfect. I've owned it for ages and am tired of hearing everyone rave about it but me!

message 222: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I have added Ender's Game for February, Catch-22 and American Gods for March.

Please remember to clarify what month you'd like to read your Buddy reads. It is hard for me to figure it out sometimes.

My questionables are:
War & Peace
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
The Notebook
The Thirteenth Tale
Outlander

Just let me know what month works best for most and I will add it to my calendar. :) Happy Reading!

message 223: by April Lyn (new)

April Lyn (aprilallyear) How about Sophie's world in February, the thirteenth tale and catch 22 in march, and middlemarch and story of Edgar Sawtelle tbd? Does that work for all who are interested?

Stefani - SpelingExpirt (speling_expirt) | 585 comments February works for me for Sophie's World. I'm looking forward to finally getting all the way through this one!

message 225: by Karina (new)

Karina (karinargh) | 807 comments Could I interest anyone in a buddy read of Battle Royale in February? (It should be good for fans of the Hunger Games - and anyone looking to read more translated speculative fiction, I'm sure I saw mention of something like that in the listopia challenge thread...)

I already read it, but I'd participate in a discussion if others were reading it.

Ashley I have all of the buddy reads updated over in this thread 2013 Buddy Reads

The To Be Determined ones are at the bottom of the post. Let me know if I missed any or if any need to be changed.

Buddy reads are looking good so far!! :) Thank you everyone for joining in. :)

message 230: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Anyone want to do either The Brothers Karamazov or Crime and Punishment in February?

message 231: by Morgan (last edited Jan 09, 2013 01:19PM) (new)

Morgan | 127 comments I'd definitely be interested in any Dostoyevsky for February. I started the Brothers Karamazov a few months ago but never got around to finishing, so doing a buddy read for that or Crime and Punishment would be great.

message 232: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Awesome, I've heard Brothers is much harder to get through so I would like to do that one as a buddy read more!

message 233: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 127 comments Yeah I agree, should we make that one as a definite for February?

message 234: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I put down The Brother's Karamazov for February. We can add Crime and Punishment as well if you all choose. :)

message 235: by Kelsi (new)

message 238: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (hawkescream) | 153 comments Does anyone want to read The Great Gatsby in April/May?

The movie remake with Leo Decaprio comes out May 10th (according to IMDB) and I definitely want to read it before I see the new movie!

For anyone participating in the Goodreads 100 challenge it's also on there!

message 239: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I love love love The Great Gatsby. I will put it down for April, Alexandra.

message 240: by Lilac (new)

message 244: by Lee-Anna (new)

Lee-Anna | 14 comments I just joined this book club so I'm sort of new to this. I know I would like to join and Buddy group I'm just not sure which one's are open. I've looked over the book list and the following are ones I was interested in. I'm flexible with the time it's read, and I apologize in advance if some are books you've already done. - Lee-Anna

The Lucky One,
The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo,
The Outlander,
A Tale of Two Cities,
Farenheit 451,
Catching Fire,
Les Miserables

Also, I was wondering if anyone would want to read a book by the Kathy Reichs? They're murder mysteries that use forensic science to solve the crimes. Strong female protagonist, funny in spots, suspenceful... good. Let me know what my next step is. Thanks

message 245: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (hawkescream) | 153 comments Yay I'm so excited that so many people are interested in The Great Gatsy!
