What Are You Reading in April 2012?

Same as always, just wondering what everyone is reading for this month. Just finished the four books in Book of the New Suns by Gene Wolfe. So I will try to pick out a book to read by Monday. Maybe I will try to read the sequel, The Book of the Long Sun, which I do have as I got all the Wolfe books from the library.

Deadhouse gates, nearing the midst of it, so far it is awesome and even though Gardens of the Moon was really really good, this one is much better even now :)

Deadhouse gates is awesome. One of my favorites, though the next two I think are the best in the series.

Reading the Crimson Guard, right now which I really like. That faction in the books has always been this mysterious force, that was considered very powerful. The one thing I like about Erikson is that all the characters, groups, ect, might seem super powerful, but they do have these major flaws that basically bring many of them down to the lower level.

Reading The Eye of the World for the read in the series group.

Apart from that, I'm planing to alternate between Revelation Space, Acacia: The War with the Mein and The Hunger Games to see what the hype is all about.

when I am done with this saga I will read some other things, since it takes time for an order to arrive in here, and I definitely want to order the collection of novellas by Erikson and all books from this world that are out by Esslemont if possible :)

as for those flaws, well, many of them think themselves very powerful, but it is often circumstances that bring them down... like there is e.g. a powerful mage that could easily sweep down armies, but he cant use his warren cos there is another warren nearby that would kill him in an instant if he unleashed his :)

So I finished Kitty and the Midnight Hour started up The Einstein Intersection the other day and last night worked Little, Big in with it...

LOL, such a conundrum. I've slowed down this year, finally beginning to wonder if it's really a case of 'the one who dies with the most books wins'. I'm going to join in a read of Blackout. Other than that, I haven't decided. Am currently listening to The Terror. All I could find was an abridged version which is normally taboo with me, but after following the discussion in another book club, I decided it would be ok. Am enjoying it so far.

I'm planning to catch up with group reads as much as I can this month. Currently I'm on the last book of Riyria Chronicles ( Heir of Novron third book of omnibus version)
After that I'll finish Mort and hopefully start Mistborn: The Final Empire and maybe Gardens of the Moon but I'm in dire need of lighthearted, easy reading material, for these series are emotionally demanding reads.

Just finished Soulless and now I'm currently reading The War of the Worlds. Next week is a school holiday (Easter and all that) so there will be plenty of time for reading! I got Boneshaker, Clockwork Angel and I, Lucifer: Finally, the Other Side of the Story from the library last week, so I'll try to finish them off this month. (And I just realized - when I finish this list I will be done with my yearly challenge! Maybe it's time to raise that goal from 20 books to 40 or 50...)

The Urth of the New Sun is actually the direct sequel (Wolfe calls it a coda) to Book of the New Sun. Long Sun is a kind of prequel. Then there's a trilogy, Book of the Short Sun, that's a sequel to Long Sun but that also ties it more directly to New Sun.

Really need to revisit those -- they're right up at the top of my favorites list.

I'm reading the Lies of Locke Lamora right now and hopefully I'll be able to finish the last of the Mistborn series, the Hero of Ages, sometime this month. Mistborn was excellent, the second book in the series (the Well of Ascension) was ok.... but I just can't seem to get into the last one... Hopefully this is the month!

currently reading The Name of the Wind after reading the excellent The Lies of Locke Lamora but im not finding it as absorbing or interesting. 130 pages in and the story hasnt really kicked in, i really hope it improves.

Right now I'm reading romance, a thriller and the abridged version of On the Origin of Species, narrated by Richard Dawkins. I'm finding it really easy to follow and I'm not much of a science person (although I have basic knowledge about the theory of evolution.)

I'm reading Eye of the Labyrinth after having it on my shelf for ages (just finished the first in the trilogy). It's fairly standard political fantasy (rather than magic based), but I'm enjoying it. I'm going to pick up The Magicians when I've finished all three in the series. I've not decided beyond that yet.

Taking a break from the Malazan book, recently finished with House of Chains. I love the series, but have been wanting to read Sanderson's Mistborn books so I am reading them with the sister group. I am about through with Mistborn: The Final Empire and will proceed with The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages before returning to Malazan. So far I am enjoying Mistborn, very intriguing magic system and, compared to Erikson, easy to read and follow.

Coven of Wolves.

When summer comes, I'll have more time to read (students will be gone). I'd love some new fantasy reads, so any suggestions would be awesome.

Finished up Oryx and Crake in one day, not the best read I have ever had, really wished it was a lot better than it actually was.

I have been working on Stephen King's Dark Tower series for a couple months now and I am finally on Book 7 which is the final book. It is such an excellent and unique fantasy/sci fi/horror quest and I'm. on pins and needles as I get closer to the end.

Just finished The Dark Is Rising, which was so-so. Now reading Loki, and it's got me instantly hooked.

Nilah, I liked Oryx and Crake a lot more than Handmaid's Tale, so different srokes. I read them both a long time ago & never even finished. Handmaid. But The Gamble of the Godless was the best straight-up fantasy novel I read in a long time.

I hope I do, scanning the reviews its a very mixed view. I am just over half way through and so far I am really enjoying it. I dont mind the swearing as its true to teen life. Besides once you have read Laurell.k.Hamilton's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series, nothing can shock you. :)

wow, my brain would blast from reading those two at the same time... given that AFFC is the hardest to digest from the whole saga so far and Deadhouse gates is emotionally tough to digest as well :)

but keeep going, Deadhouse gates totally got me and I am now reading Memories of Ice :)
