R4: Team #9 ~ Nth Power

I must say, I will be sad when this is done as it is the final book in the trilogy:(

The Prophet 4 Stars
Book 3 of the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens did not disappoint me. The author's writing style is beautiful and her descriptions of Charleston make me want to go and visit.
Amelia has returned to Charleston after a short time away. She is recovering from her ordeal and is having difficulty sleeping. Amelia has also missed Devlin. Devlin remains haunted by his late wife and daughter.
I loved the way the author incorporates the lore and mythology of graveyards with the mysticism of rootwork. Definitely an enjoyable read.

I'm reading mine, but slowly as RL is still kicking my butt...Feel like such a slacker~sorry!! Think we're all having that kind of week!

I'm reading mine, but slowly as RL is still kicking my butt..."
...five ways to Sunday! These past few weeks have been amazingly bad and I'm hoping I'll catch a break soon... Some reading time would be much appreciated right about now.

Also hoping life is easier for my fellow teammates! Just think spring is around the corner. The more daylight and nicer weather seems to give extra time and energy;)

It's been a long while since I read the first book so I was surprised by the rhythm of this one. Full of action and mysteries! Cassie may have been obtuse and annoyingly naive and ignorant at times, but the flow of the story didn't stop from beginning to end.
We meet new characters, learn a little more about some we've already met and while some questions are answered, a lot more have been added to the pile. Like Cassie, we can't be sure about who to trust and everyone seems to have an agenda. Cassie tends to oversimplify things and be a little stubborn but she finally puts her big-girl-panties on and starts taking some responsibility.
Looking forward to reading where the story goes next and how the characters develop.

Review:
After reading the reviews, it seems people either like or love this series. I actually loved the last book in "The Hollow" trilogy by Jessica Verday.
Not giving too much away, this novel answered many questions that were left unanswered by its predecessors. Like previous novels it boasts strong characters, lots of action and a great storyline.
As it is the conclusion to the series, everything that has been building in the previous novels comes to a head. The love between Abbey and Caspian is truer than ever and with the help of her friends their love is finally able to exist on the same plane.
Abbey's character continues to grow stronger and her maturity really shows in this book. We find out more about "shades" and "revenants" and where our characters "fit in" to the big picture.
The conclusion was great and I loved the characters even more by the end and even though this book concludes the series, I really hope Jessica brings out other novels containing these characters.
Highly recommend this series.

BTW, it's been on my "currently reading shelf" as that's where I stash my library books so I won't forget them, but I swear I didn't start reading early! LOL...still working on the previous one for 'ghosts'!

I'll be reading Pleasure Unbound for my favorite series shelf. Awesome reviews.... So much to read, so little time!

Tania, when you do your review can you put in that you've read some of the series already, so I don't forget. Thanks :)

OK...I've peeked ahead and read the blurbs for the final two books, so the ending wasn't a surprise. But, I still had watery eyes in the aftermath of the bridge.
This is the 4th in the Vampire Academy series. Rose has taken off on her heartbreaking mission, which was successful in some ways, not so much in others. She's growing up, and I'm liking her more and more. There were a couple of startling revelations and twists, as well as lots of not-so-sneaky previews of what's coming up. All of which means I'm really glad I can pick up the next book immediately!

ETA...oops! Mistaken about that, too! Another sorry, but we're almost good now!

After reading Neal Shustermans book "Unwind" I was really looking forward to read "Everlost". Unfortionately, I did not have nearly the same reaction to this book as Unwind. It was written well, but really did not involve me that much. The characters were fine- just fine, as was the plot. Not my favorite read, and I will have to think really hard as to if I would consider reading the others in this series. That being said, I WILL still read the other Unwind books.Everlost

For my free space I am reading

Good Job!! :D

I finished my favorite series read -
Pale Demon - 4 stars, maybe even 5 stars, what the heck, 5 stars. 2/22/12
I've missed Rachel, Ivy, Jenks and the gang. I don't know why I kept putting off reading this book. The Hollows was one of the first urban fantasy series I read and enjoyed. In this book, Rachel and the gang are on a road trip out west for Rachel's meeting with the coven and Robbie's wedding.
Road trip. Can you imagine a road trip with a witch, a vampire, and a pixie? Add in an elf and the possibilities for humor, mayhem, and destruction multiply.
Trent joins the trip on a top secret elf-quest. Yes, an elf-quest.
The second part of the book focuses on Rachel's experience in the ever after where she learns more about her abilities.
Awesome book. I'm now ready for the next one!

Just as an FYI for everyone, I will be going away in 2 weeks for a week- I have no idea if I will have internet service or not, and I am trying to bring several books with me hoping that one of them will fit into that weeks shelf, assuming that I can get online to check the posted shelf- not sure how else to deal with this... any input?

OMG! I would have committed murder if I had to wait a year...a month...even a week to read the next in this series! The last line is a doozy. 'Nuff about that, if you've read it, you know what I mean. If you haven't, read it (and grab the last in the series along with it!
So, Rose's trip to Russia was both successful and not (Blood Promise), and she's back at St. Vladimir's, at least for a little while. It's time for graduation, which is quite a bit more rigorous than we went through! No surprise to us readers, she makes it through, but the future, especially is quite uncertain. Along with the other new graduates, she's off to court. Some things are true regardless of the species, and places with people in power are filled with scheming and intrigue. Rose, being Rose, of course makes waves. But, there's more going on than she realized, and she's smack dab in the middle of it.
With each book in this series, I found that once I got a little past the half-way point, I couldn't put it down (OK, HAD to put it down and meet some deadlines, but have been a grumpy wench for the past few days as a result of both those things!) Now, have fingers crossed that Last Sacrifice will fit for the next shelf...sorry, beloved Nth Power, it's my next read regardless!)

Will you have a text-capable cell phone with you? If so, I can mail you the shelf (if it's OK with you, PM me), and you can let me know what books you have. I'll help match them. That way, you can at least get your book squared away. I'll get input from the other mods on review stuff (either wait, or help you post it...did this sitch arise once before? Or was that just in sign-ups?)

Judithe- I pretty much devoured this series as well... FUN!

Where are you going? Hopefully it's a "fun" (as opposed to business) trip! The idea of bringing every book...yikes!! Regardless, something will work out!

I was going to suggest the same thing as Judithe - maybe a text might go through, depending on where you go, how your phone is set up, and your plan.
I love the Hollows series. Rachel is a little annoying in the first few books but they seem to get progressively better and better. Nice world building, great cast of characters. It would make a good TV series if it were cast right.

How's Demonica going? Do you like it so far?
Judith, enjoy!! I had to do the waiting routine and you can imagine how much it sucked! After you finish this series, you could start the spin off which features some of the characters you've met here (and for which I'm doing the waiting routine once again, since the second book comes out in a couple of months).
AH, glad you enjoyed your book! I've only read the first two of the series and I'm not that hooked yet but I'm willing to keep going and see what happens.
Shel, don't worry if you can't see the new shelf. It's still early so it's okay if you can't. Just read what you feel like reading and if we're lucky it'll fit - if not, well you'll have an excuse to read yet another book! :)
Also, I have an ebook reader which makes carrying "all the books I own" (or close enough) a reality. It was a gift to myself and the saving for it was totally worth it! I go nowhere without it.

And Thenia, I have been tempted by an e-reader, but honestly I really like physical books! plus when Borders went out of business I bought a TON of books so I cant really justify buying too much more right now...lol! I will most likely read several books while I am gone- hope I can cover it, but I usually read more than 1 a week, so I should be able to catch up if need be.
I am currently about 3/4 through both my Free space read and my fav. series read.
