Philip Dodd (philipdodd) | 5 comments Hello, everyone. My name is Philip Dodd. I am sixty one, have a degree in English literature from Newcastle University, and I have been writing songs, stories and poems since I was twelve. My first book, Angel War, was published by Fast Print Publishing on Tuesday, 23rd, April, 2013. As it took me twenty six years to write, I felt I owed it to my story to get it published. It was inspired by Chapter Twelve of the Book of Revelation, which speaks of the war in heaven, fought between Michael and his angels and the dragon and his angels. The Bible only says that the war happened, but not why. My book gives my version of the events of that war and its aftermath. I have offered four copies of it as giveaways in the Goodreads giveaway scheme. The offer ends on Saturday, 25th, May, 2013. My book has its own page here on Goodreads, on the Fast Print Publishing online bookshop at www.fast-print.net and on Amazon. Here is the blurb I wrote for the back cover of my book:
From an early age, Azel, the Prince of the White Castle of the Angels of Light, plans what he calls his great rebellion against the Father. After his self transformation into a four legged, scaled beast, he names himself the Dragon. At the head of his rebel angel army and his dragon flocks, he brings war to the angel lands. His intention is to dethrone the Father and rule in his place. Khem, the Child of the White Mountain, vows upon his Silver Sword to be his slayer. The lonely, perilous path of the dragonslayer, he takes. At its end his stands alone, to challenge the Father's foe to combat.
On the front cover of my book is a print by the nineteenth century artist, Gustave Dore, called The Crowned Virgin: A Vision of John, otherwise known as The Woman and the Dragon, and on the back cover there is a print by the same artist, called The Fall of Babylon. Both prints I chose myself, as they were both inspired by the Book of Revelation.

My autobiography was recently published as an e-book on Kindle. Unfortunately my resources did not stretch to having print copies although I hope to be able to have these in the future. I do intend writing more and have already started a series of short stories which, although largely fictional, will be based on actual incidental events from my life. The book is not free at present but I should be able to provide electronic copies in a variety of different formats if required. You may see a preview of the book at http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ADYWS76 If preferable you may substitute .com for .co.uk. I would be interested in participating in an on-line author interview so will go to the other topic.

Adam Tritt (adam_tritt) | 6 comments Hello all. I'm quite happy to be here and to check out your various books. Thee is quite a bit of interest here.

I've been writing for a while and you can find quite a bit of my work at http://www.adamtritt.com I have a few books out.

My latest book is a memoir. Songs from the Well. In poetry and prose it tells the story of my life with my wife, her diagnosis with brain cancer, illness, death, my suicide attempts, and recovery.

The profits for this all go to a local cancer relief charity, helping families afford rent and water and such while undergoing treatment. It is ebook now, but in paper very soon. Available on Amazon right now, because that maximises the amount to charity.

Nancy Bevilaqua I've been wandering around Goodreads since I published my book (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...) this past October, and I'm STILL just getting used to it, and figuring out what's where here.

I discovered this group because another writer named Robert Mitchell, who wrote the AMAZING (I'm serious, and not just trying to flatter--it's an awesome book, and you should all just drop what you're doing and read it) Only Shot at a Good Tombstone, posted his review of my book here a week or so ago.

Anyway, my book is a memoir about my days as a caseworker for people with AIDS in New York in the late 1980's, and the client with whom, against all the rules and "common sense", I fell in love.

I'm looking forward to "meeting" some of you here.

KIRKUS REVIEWS ON A THRUST TO THE VITALS (hb)

BLURB
Returning to Elmhurst many years after his involuntary departure, to attend a civic reception in his honour, Sir Rufus Seward had ignored the maxim that 'going back' is not always wise.

Summoned after Seward's body is found, a wood chisel protruding from its back, Dl Joe Rafferty receives a panicky call from his younger brother, Mickey, who fears he is in the frame for Seward's murder. Strangely, given his loathing of the dead man, Mickey had received an invitation to the reception. Keen to confront the bully who made his youth a misery, Mickey found his tormentor's body, and fled the scene...

Rafferty, aware that his brother hated Seward, and that Mickey, a carpenter by trade, has three pointers to guilt - the means, the motive and the opportunity - finds himself torn between protecting his family and finding the real killer

'Wonderful series. Fantastic books. I highly recommend them. They have terrific characters and interesting plots.' Gail Farrelly, Author

A.R. Adorno (paboy117) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I am the author of a book series Adventures of The Young Warrior (currently working on book 6) and after several years I have recently been able to publish my first book "The World's Fate". It is a semi fantasy style adventure series, where I take ancient legends and prophecies and use real world locations and events to make these ancient warnings seem true. The books take place all over the world, one book may travel the entire globe and another may be one region/country, but they are mostly entertainment and greatly detailed.

They are about the son of a US military worker, who was killed mysteriously, and the boy sets out to better understand what his father was in search of, and how he died and in the process he gets tangled up in unexpected situations that he has to fight his way out of.

I am trying to build an audience and catch peoples interest and this was my best option since I am on a budget right now and only really write for the fun I wanted to share my love of story telling with the world. You can check out my Goodreads page here http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18... and even read an excerpt of the book, and if you would like to know more you can join a discussion board. If you are interested in purchasing the book it is available on Amazon in paperback and on the Kindle.

James Lingard (jamesbat) | 10 comments Hi. I am an author looking for reviews on:-
ESCAPE FROM IRAN ISRAELI STYLE (Action/Adventure)
A fact based short story inspired by the action packed adventures of Israeli engineers who were supervising construction works on a military base for the Shah’s army deep in central Iran when they found themselves caught up in the Iranian revolution of 1st February 1979. Faced with a truly horrific drama, they regarded their chances of escape as negligible and resolved to arm themselves and fight if their desperate attempts at bluff failed. What should they do? Would war with Israel be declared? The result is a short but powerful thriller.
Char reviewed Escape From Iran Israeli Style
Excellent 2 June 2013 A great book to read for war literature lovers. Excellent writing and captivating story. Enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Tags: adventure, thriller, action, short stories, Iran, Israel, escape.

THE DEAD MAN STRIKES BACK (Thriller)

This powerful fast moving blend of recent history with the fictional adventures of a British spy was inspired by Russia’s problems with Chechnya and the war between Russia and Georgia over semi-independent Abkhazia. The result is an action packed thriller full of danger and drama. Much of the action takes place against a background of the Caucasus Mountains. But can our hero trust the Russian FSB (formerly KGB) officer who befriends him and how will she react to Anna, a Separatist?
Char reviewed The Dead Man Strikes Back
Powerful thriller I thoroughly enjoyed reading this action packed thriller, an excellently written and fast moving story that makes you want to keep reading.
Tags: adventure, thriller, contemporary fiction, action, war, Georgia, spy.

IN DEFIANCE OF DANGER (Short Stories)

In Defiance of Danger is a miscellany of fact based short stories relating to war, action packed adventure, insolvency or drama in the City of London. It reveals how real people behaved in dangerous or difficult situations both in war and peace. Their stories compare with any thriller and the war exploits – part of our history – are a tribute to the brave.
Char reviewed In Defiance of Danger
Must read 2 June 2013 An absolute must read for war story lovers. Revealing and compelling short stories that thrill as well as inform the reader.

Granny Irene's Guide to the Afterlife chronicles the adventures of a dead Grandma and is written exactly as the character speaks (Geordie - North of England) so, it is definitely not for those who like their books written in Queen's English, nor is for anyone who doesn't like to have their beliefs challenged!

An Eye For An Eye For An Eye by Marc Nash
An Eye For An Eye For An Eye

You can tell a lot about a society from its murders. And Simon Moralee can tell everything from its victims. He has the gift- or is it a curse?- of being able to recover a vision of the last thing murder victims had imprinted on their minds before death. It means he can identify their killers and describe them to the police to secure a one hundred percent clean-up rate. A gift he first discovered as a teenager when cradling his butchered mother in his arms.

His financially bankrupt society leaps at the opportunity his gift provides, by cutting the level of policing and detection back to the bone, as a yet another cost-saving measure. The few remaining policemen serve as Simon’s minders as they seek to protect their most valuable asset and the one remaining celebrity the State can promote to their citizens as a good news story. Only people are losing interest in his exploits, as they lose hope for their society with its murder rate spiralling beyond Simon’s ability to keep pace. And into this numbers game emerges a new threat, when a criminal mastermind with a psychic power of his own, challenges Simon in a psychological joust to the death...

Carys Jones Hi,

My new paranormal YA novel, Sunkissed, has just been released and I'm trying to promote it as much as possible. I'm looking for people to review the book and am also available for interviews/guest blog posts!

Sunkissed follows the story of Dawn Summers who is dying. It’s 1853 and as the seventeen year old continues to fade away she has visions of the father she never knew, urging her to fight for her life.

In the small village of Fandova the only medical care is in the form of the mysterious Dr. Moralus who has a known penchant for bloodletting. Thomas, Dawn's fiancé, is warned against inviting his intervention, but feels he has no choice, he pleads with the doctor to save Dawn’s life…whatever it takes.

Whatever it ‘takes’ has some consequences neither of them expected. Now, it’s a hunt to the death, with both Dawn and Thomas determined to win.

The book is available through Amazon in kindle and paperback format; http://www.amazon.com/Sunkissed-ebook...

Joel Bresler Hi, all.
I am the author of a couple of works of humorous fiction. My "Letters to be Read in a Heavily British Accent" was a finalist for a couple of awards when it came out, and is still available on Amazon. My most recent is "Sunderwynde Revisited", a weird, humorous novel set in Cleveland. Admittedly this is a bit like cheating, setting a humorous novel in Cleveland; but I'm not proud.
I've taken a stab at a Facebook author page:

which so far has been pretty lonely. If you check it out and have any suggestions, they'd be appreciated.

Regrads,
Joel Bresler

Travis McGuire I'm the author of Dughall. It's been out on Amazon for a month now and I'm looking for a bit more exposure in the form of readers and reviewers.

Street racing is Dughall's world. But after a race on a summer night in Missouri, it all changes when a woman steps in front of his car. Over the next year, he quits racing and struggles to redefine his life. He begins dating Cari, but her brother Dmitri causes trouble for them all--taking Dughall on the deadliest race of his life.

Find it free on Amazon for the next fourteen hours :)

Roger Owen Bishop (rogertheriter) | 4 comments Unholy Orders by Roger Bishop Hello everyone. I am the author of the traditionally published novel UNHOLY ORDERS which is getting excellent reviews so far on Amazon in both the UK and the USA you can read then for yourself as well as obtain your own copy here http://amzn.to/102AvPw or here amzn.to/1824qJs Although most of the sory is set in the Church of Englands headquarters of Church House Westminster London, it is anything but a religious novel. Relating as it does one mans attempt to better himself, and consequently his families future security. My book is based upon real characters and events that actually occurred, as witnessed by myself during my employment with this august institution. Including the 1991 Archbishop of Canterbury betting scam, that netted several employees of the Church and their associates a considerable fortune at the expense of the bookmakers. It also gives an insight into the workings of the Church, and its failings. Primarily though it is a love story, as this was the driving force that led my ant-hero to take greater and greater risks on behalf of his wife and family. Lust, love and liturgy are all in evidence within its pages, and anyone that has ever thought that they would like to improve their lot in life will really appreciate the true story behind my novel. Even those that have not, will enjoy discovering how it is possible for the little guy to succeed for once.
