Jennifer Lafferty | 31 comments My book Offbeat Love Stories and More is a collection of humorous and unique short stories. The majority of the stories center on love and romance. The pieces are an eclectic mix, ranging from historic farce, such as "Make Believe", to contemporary comedy/dramas like "A New Verse", and "It Happened at the Mall". Other genres are represented by such stories as the suspense filled "A Familiar Place", and the lighthearted coming of age tale "The Prom Date".The writing style is original and imaginative. Selections include: A New Verse, Periwinkle 26, Choices, Make Believe, It Happened at the Mall, A Familiar Place, Eye on the Prize, Overseas Adoption, Chance Meeting, Riddles and Jingles, The Surprise, The Prom Date, The Anniversary Gift, Unlikely Friends.

A.K. Hill (akhill) | 3 comments Hello everyone,

I am A.K. Hill, author of A Mediocre Man. I have quite an eclectic taste in books, both reading and writing them. Anything from modern fiction short stories through to epic fantasy novels.

I have been lucky enough recently to get some time away from the hustle and bustle of the world to concentrate on my writing. Turning the scraps of stories I have scribbled down over the years into something more substantial.

I have recently self published my first book, a modern fiction novella charting the death of an ordinary man, set against the backdrop of a world obsessed with gossip and rumour.

So far it has received positive reviews, but I do need to make some grammatical amendments that have sadly been missed. In the meantime I am working hard on my next two novellas, one a sci-fi story in a near future setting; the other a fantasy story that forms part of a mythological world that has been growing in my head since I was a boy.

Thanks for reading.

Nicolas Wilson | 17 comments I started with journalism, screenwriting, and writing for graphic novels, but have been focusing more on novel writing. I have six projects in varying states of revision, and my first novel, Whores is now available at smashwords and amazon.

It's free until the end of November, and will be 99 cents after that. Note: It's a really dark, dystopian story. So it's not for younger audiences, or the squeamish.

Here's a brief synopsis of Whores.

In the near future, women’s rights are eroding, and those who buck the system are hunted as gender criminals by the authorities and rogue militias. This harrowing dystopia is seen through the eyes of a woman cast into a resistance group by circumstance, and a newly minted gender crimes detective tasked with bringing them to justice, as he grapples with whether or not that word still has meaning.

S.L. Jennings (SLJennings) Hey everyone,
I have recently published my debut novel, Dark Light, through Amazon KDP. It is a New Adult Paranormal Romance novel oozing lots of love, sex, and magic. Tortured, frustrating heroine- check. Dark, sexy hero- check. Love triangle with 'good guy'- check. But it's more than that, plus totally relatable and entertaining.

Dark Light is the first installment of The Dark Light Series and so far it has done pretty well, considering I am an unknown writer. Book 2 is due for release Spring 2013.

I'd love to connect with authors who write similar genre titles or just really awesome folks who are always good for a laugh and/or inspiration!

V. Shaw (VShaw) | 4 comments Hey everyone! I'm a new author and have recently published a collection of YA fiction, The Lady of Chains and Other Stories Also, if anyone is looking for blog feedback, feel free to follow me and I will do so in return: http://vshawauthor.blogspot.co.uk/

Amazon Synopsis:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lady-Chains-O...

“Remember; you have seventy-two hours to do the deed and not a moment longer. Cut her throat and remove her heart. That, my girl, is the only way to destroy the wretched creature.”

Greylock. A city supported by a network of scaffolding, bleeding rust and wheezing steam. Patrolled by an army of ‘metal men’—creatures who’re designed for nothing more than to kill and destroy. Nothing grows. Nothing truly lives.

The tower stands like an ice-pick, pushing through a snarl of thorns, resting upon the outskirts of Greylock. Its shadow is cast across the city like an elongated clock-hand, chipping away the hours, the days. The years. It is home to the Lady of Chains, a woman incarcerated without a sentence. A woman who almost single-handedly destroyed the world . . .

Viola, a young orphan girl, has been thrust into this nightmarish world by the devious Mrs Casket, caretaker of the tower and maid to the mysterious lady. She’s been given a task which could either see her demise or be her salvation.

But who is the Lady of Chains? And why does she insist that she is connected to Viola? With the clock ticking and the metal men drawing near, Viola is about to learn that not everything is what it seems . . .

A spellbinding fantasy with elements of steampunk.

*****

INCLUDES THE SHORT STORIES;
Hansel and Gretel
Rogan and the Gargoyle
The Silent World

BONUS MATERIAL:
Also contains an preview of the up-coming horror novel, The Fragile Things.

NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUNGER READERS

Hail and well thee met!

I am an indie author invited over to the group by my friend Alex. I published my first book through Amazon in November. The Dreamweaver's Journey

This is the first story in a planned series: Tales from Feyron - The Ripples of Power. The series will contain sets of books based on the historical ages of the Realm of Feyron.

The genre is fantasy. The intended audience is young teen, as the story was specifically written for my daughter and her friends, although several of my beta readers are adults who did enjoy the tale.

The book is available for Kindle and paperback (through Create Space) on the Amazon family of companies. It is listed with Kindle Select and available through the lending library as well.

Thank you for looking :)
