Jacob Power (powerjacob) | 8 comments I am an author, a newbie on goodreads, and my short story, "Frank Winston," is now available on Amazon, and Kindle Unlimited. You can read a sample of it on my blog www.jpowerdesign.com. It's a tale of two old guys who are crass and ornery. Think Grumpy Old Men, but in the mob (to a slight extent). They haven't had the best of luck in their years and seem to give each other the same amount of trouble that they get themselves into.

Here is the blurb.

Frank Winston is not just one guy, but two elderly ex-cons trying to make some extra money. With the recent purchase of a customized used van, they set out to find their fortunes. Curt Ferrero calls the men to transport some stolen goods to a buyer while the owner of these goods, a mid level gangster and Ferrero's boss, wants to put an end to Ferrero's ways. Frank and Winston are caught in the middle of an internal squabble in the mob that these grumpy old men don't want to be a part of. They just want some extra cash, but will they be able get out without getting into trouble?

This is my first attempt at self publishing and I'm excited to finally have something of mine out there in the real world, or digital world, or... You know what I mean.

So please, go here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TGCNOU6, buy a copy, and leave a review. Spread the word. Enjoy.

Colleen Fleshman | 4 comments Hi everyone! I'm a YA fantasy author, and I've also published two non-fiction books. Sinister is my YA novel - it's about a 16-year-old boy who finds out that the devil needs him to save the world. I had a lot of fun writing it :)

I have a question for you all: have any of you used paid advertisements on GoodReads or Amazon? If so, what were the results? I've never used them, but I'm curious to hear if they're worth the investment.

Thanks!

Paul Williams | 11 comments The Little Sentinel Of The Sierra Nevada by Paul Williams
Hello. After confidently declaring I was to be a writer over forty years ago, I've finally got my act together at the age of 57. I've just published my first novel, a western following the exploits of the 13 year old Sarah Harlan as she and her family travel across the America of 1846.

Francis Powell (francishpowell) | 23 comments My first published book is a collection of 22 short stories about misfortune characterized by unexpected final twists at the end of each tale. "With 'Flight of Destiny', I want the reader to squirm at the behavior of some undeniably despicable characters, be charmed by their wit under duress, and be totally drawn into the harrowing world of the oppressed, all while savoring these dark, surrealist stories," says Powell. "'Into this anthology, I have injected my vast accumulation of angst and blended in my warped sense of humor."

Pavan Kaur (pavankaur) | 18 comments Hello everyone, I have just put my first book out there for the world to read :)

Everyone has a past. For most people their past is their worst nightmare, haunting them day by day. Such a person with a past is Kim Turner. But everything changes when Nicolas Webb comes into her life, and that too without her consent.

Nick on the other hand, is your typical hot shot. With money comes powers and with powers come happiness, or so he thought until he met Kim.

Haunted by her past and stalked in his present, are they destined to be together? Will Kim be able to let go of her past and trust Nick or will Nick just cause another heartbreak?

Philip Dodd (philipdodd) | 5 comments My first book, Angel War, was published in April, 2013. It could be described as a work of fantasy fiction, rooted in The Bible. It was chosen as one of the finalists for The Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards for 2013, I am pleased to say. My new book, Klubbe the Turkle and the Golden Star Coracle, was published in March, 2015. It is a light-hearted science fiction story, being the biography of Klubbe the turkle, inventor, explorer, native of the planet, Ankor. In 2016, I plan to publish a book of my poems, called Light Ships. Some of my poems can be read on my WordPress blog: http://astro7747.wordpress.com

Jim Vuksic Imagine a world in which there is no war, crime, hunger, poverty, inequality, prejudice, bigotry, envy or greed. Everyone, without exception, has access to the exact same quantity and quality of food, clothing, housing, medical care, formal education and social advancement opportunities.

Now imagine that, in this world, the words father, mother, daughter, son, brother, sister, family, government and religion do not exist because the concepts themselves do not exist. The inhabitants are occasionally transported to a place they never knew existed or required to do something without having the slightest idea of what they are doing or why.

Can you imagine such a world? Well, I did. If you should choose to visit it someday, I hope that you enjoy reading about the world of Levels as much as I enjoyed creating it.
