Are You An Author?

I'm an author and reader. I love to read just about anything, but I write contemporary romance books. My second self-published book, Discovering Pride, on January 31st, the first book in the series, Finding Pride, is available as well.

FINDING PRIDE:
Megan Kimble was traveling a long way to find the next chapter in her life, one that would not include her brother Matt. Losing him now was tragic, even more so since she had finally freed herself from the abuse and the shame of a bad marriage. She'd spent years hiding things from Matt, so he wouldn't know about her horrible life. Keeping her secret world of bruises, cuts, and broken bones, much like the one she now sported with a large white cast.
Dealing with her loss was hard, but, now she was thinking of taking over Matt's new business venture. This could be the fresh start she needed, a new town, a new place to forget the pain and maybe she could learn to trust again.
Todd Jordan was a successful businessman, who had once lost it all, and now he'd just lost his best friend and business partner. But, then she came into town broken and scared, and for the first time in a long time he was looking forward to his future. Breaking down Megan's barriers would take patience and strength, and he would need that strength to keep what he loves safe.

DISCOVERING PRIDE:
Lacey Jordan was a woman who knew what she wanted… and she wanted nothing to do with the new doctor in town. He had the perfect smile, perfectly tan muscles and a way with people. Her people. This was her town, her family, her life, and he’d come in and shaken everything up, including her heart.
Aaron was running away from a hard breakup where more then just his heart had been broken. At this point all he wanted to do was take over his grandfather’s medical practice, and work on his new house, turning it into the first place he could call home. He liked the town of Pride, in fact he’d spent the only good parts of his childhood here. What he hadn’t expected was to bump into a fairy goddess. Bumping hard enough to get a concussion and have his heart mended at the same time.
Then, the town gets a visit that will change their lives forever, if they can survive.

Finding Pride & Discovering Pride

I am the author of the Jimmy Threepwood series - the first book - Jimmy Threepwood and the Veil of Darkness is Out now in paperback and Ebook.
‘Great book for children’ ~ Jamie Owen
‘Great young fantasy novel, in the vein of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson suitable for young readers and adults, thoroughly enjoyable.’
‘Wow what a great book I bought this book for my nephew at a book signing. I started to read it and could not put it down, what a story can’t wait for the second book great cliff-hanger ending.’
‘This book is awesome. I'm always looking for more reading material and this book was recommended. I absolutely loved it, it grabbed my attention from the first few paragraphs and had me hooked’…
...Many centuries ago the Elders designed the world we live in, but they knew that through time and the advances in medicine and technology, the world would slowly start to die and man would ultimately destroy the planet. The Elders created a prophecy that every two millennia, four children would receive a mystical mark. The children would grow and (one day) be powerful enough to release the mighty beast, Tyranacus. Together they would purge the world of man, allowing it to heal before the life cycle would start again. Margaret Threepwood was a gentle and loving wife and was due to give birth when tragedy struck and Margaret fell severely ill. The Gatekeeper of life and death appeared in the hospital ward and provided a one-time deal so Margaret would live as long as her son Jimmy Threepwood was brought up unloved, uncared-for and handed to the Gatekeeper and his minions on his eleventh birthday, where his destiny would be unveiled to him. As Jimmy approached his eleventh birthday he noticed strange and unusual things happening. Firstly, a mysterious crow started to follow him around school; this ultimately led to a Bunson burner accident and an unusual scar forming on Jimmy's arm in the shape of a number nine. This was followed by Jimmy protecting his friend against the school bully, but one touch changed both Jimmy's and the bully's lives forever...
‘This book is a must for fans of everything from Harry Potter to the Skullduggery Series. It is dark in places but with enough humour to keep the more nervous among us reading on.’
‘I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. I really liked the description and story line - it has great action. Good reading for 11+ years.’
If you enjoy dark magical fantasy filled with mystical adventures, dragons and twists this book is for you.

Greetings! My debut novel is called Into the Vast
The world of the Vast is harsh and deadly. But the advanced technology of the Institute has allowed humanity to cling to life in the face of impossible odds. And yet, no one knows the price that is being paid to maintain the fragile utopia which science has created. No one knows because no one is allowed to know. But when one of the researcher's 'experiments' escapes out into the desert wasteland it sets of a chain of events that will unravel their twisted plans for the future of the human race.
I've also written a couple of short stories that you can check out via my author page. I hope you enjoy them!

I am a published author and an avid reader.
My latest book isYou'll Be Safe Here (Promises, Prayers and Secrets Series, Novelette Book 1)
It is a contemporary romance novelette set in 2013. Books 2 and 3 will be available as a boxed set on Amazon by third week of February.
A brief description is below:
Isabella "Bella" Martinez has been living in hell since she was born. Raised by an abusive mother, she thought she was safe when she was found by Gabriel.
Gabriel Collins is a criminal. A Manhattan thief now turned millionaire. He loves Bella but still doesn’t understand how love goes when it’s mixed with money and power especially when Bella disapproves of his current work where he earns millions of dollars.
Enter Scal Farrell. A lead vocalist of an international band who accidentally meets Bella. A bit younger than Gabriel and playful.
You’ll Be Safe Here (Promises, Prayers and Secrets Series) is a story of lost hope, misplaced love and secrets. Secrets that are woven in their lives. Secrets that can destroy them. Or make their circumstances into something entirely new, different – and totally safe.

The sequel, Top Dog is currently in pre-production ahead of the leap to the big screen using a script I wrote myself. On which note, I also wrote the multi-award winning movie, Green Street.

My name is Justin Bienvenue, I am an author and poet. I currently have one published book out and am working on my next two.
My first book is a book of horror poetry entitled The Macabre Masterpiece: Poems of Horror and Gore, I am currently boycotting it from sale due to contract issues with its so-called publisher however if anyone does wish to buy a copy it's more then reasonably priced on Amazon.
My second book is a western horror entitled "A Bloody Bloody Mess in the Wild Wild West", I have recently submitted it to a few companies in hopes of getting it published.
My third book will be another poetry book but will contain poems of all types of genres and experiences, it will be called "Like a Box of Chocolates", I am not sure of when it will be released hopefully sometime this year and I will self-publish it myself through such programs.
That's pretty much my works. When I'm not working on those I'm usually writing poems and sometimes even short stories if I get inspired enough. I also do interviews though I've taken a break due to excess amount of requests.

Hi, My name is Johanna van Zanten. A fellow blogger and author Barbara Morrison http://www.bmorrison.com has reviewed and posted a thoughtful and positive review of my debut novel-in-stories On Thin Ice.
Welcome to my Monday morning book blog. Every Monday morning I will talk about a book I've read during the previous week, sometimes from a literary viewpoint or a writer's perspective, sometimes simply what excites me about the book. I read all kinds of things — nonfiction, literary fiction, genre fiction, poetry, backs of cereal boxes-so you never know what may show up here. Feedback is welcome; email bmorrison@bmorrison.com. I may publish some responses in future blog entries, so if you don't want your comments published, please note that in your email. Join me as we start off the week thinking about books.

On Thin Ice: Short Stories of Life and Dating After 50, by Johanna van Zanten · 1 day ago by B. Morrison
The title is a bit misleading since these linked short stories about a woman named Adrienne start when she is 28. However, they do follow her into her 50s, and they are about finding love and finding a place for herself in the world. And I do mean the world. It’s refreshing to read stories set in locales ranging from Amsterdam to the south of France to Canada’s Northwest Territories.
What I’ve learned from participating in critique groups and my poetry discussion group, as well as from writing this blog, is how very different people’s tastes are, and even how different mine are depending on my mood and the circumstances. Sometimes I want an exciting thriller; sometimes a puzzle to work out. But sometimes I want something less challenging. The easy flow of van Zanten’s narrative was the perfect thing for a long day of travel, changing flights and enduring layovers in listless airports.
As I say, the narrative flow is good, and the voice interesting, if mild. The stories contain some unusual events such as a canoe trip on the mighty McKenzie River to attend a Native American pow wow. But mostly the stories catalogue the ups and downs of an ordinary life: love found and lost, the death of a parent, difficulties with teenaged children. I particularly enjoyed the humorous story about Adrienne’s adventures with starting a matchmaking business.
There is a curious evenness of tone which under other circumstances might not have held my attention, but provided the restful interludes I needed during that long, difficult day. The lack of strong dramatic ups and downs building to a climax in part comes from the preponderance of narration. The stories are narrated in a calm and assured voice, with a few half-scenes (narration interrupted with some lines of dialogue). Where there are fully dramatised scenes, they tend to be mostly dialogue without the actions and reactions that ratchet up the dramatic emotion. Actions, as the cliché goes, speak louder than words.
To understand the difference between narration and scene, consider Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie where Tom stands at the edge of the stage narrating the story, and then he stops and is silent while Laura, her mother, and the Gentleman Caller actually act out a scene. The percentage of narration to scene has changed over time. Lengthy narrative passages are common in the 19th century novels I grew up on. These days, perhaps due to the influence of movies, most novels tend to minimize narration and go from scene to scene. The writer’s challenge is to find the correct balance of narration, scene, and half-scene for the particular story she is telling.
Although at first I was disconcerted by the absence of the dramatic structure I’ve come to expect, this collection of stories turned out to be the ideal thing for me on that particular day, and I enjoyed the quietly intelligent voice accompanying me on my travels.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a digital copy of this book free from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
So far B.Morrison.

My name is Sherry Parnell and I have published a work of literary fiction called, "Let the Willows Weep."
Below is a synopsis:
Where is the line between destruction and redemption? What happens when one doesn’t know—do they fall or do they find their way?
When the tenuous ties of her family break, Birddog Harlin is forced to choose a path which leads her away from those she loves, threatening to completely destroy her before she ultimately seeks her salvation.
Birddog is a willful and bitter woman whose husband, after years of suffering her emotional abuse, leaves suddenly one morning. She is left with her precocious and introverted young daughter who is devastated and angry, further deteriorating their already strained relationship. But during a seemingly insignificant moment with her daughter, Birddog privately recollects her own adolescence and the tragic events which drove her to make the choices that threaten to destroy not only her own life but also that of her daughter. Memories of loss, love, and unbearable hurt flood her mind. But as each moment recedes once more, Birddog realizes that although life is partially fated, it is her own choices that determine her true destiny.

More about the novel
The Christian fiction novel Witchbane Guardian of the Purities will be published this spring. It is the first in the Their Dominion Was Scarlet Red series.
It is the story of a mighty man of God's endeavor to save a fallen angel. Hardcore, but no profane. Real, but respectful, and most of all it glorifies Jesus Christ.
An excerpt:
He knew demons were the most salacious lovers, but Witchbane also knew Jesus' maxim: “For as long as time flows forth from the Eternal Mountain, so will a demon's insatiable passions utterly destroy its host.' Yet Witchbane deferred his war against The Dominion when he finally discovered the way to save his lover - his ancient tormentor...
Though younger than the original man, whom God named Ha'Adam Tiller of Paradise, the man Witchbane was alive before Ha'Adam first considered allowing Eve to entertain the Serpent (the original man lusted after the forbidden fruit [James 1:13-16], but that story is for another time). After the war in heaven but before Ha'Adam's fall came to pass, Witchbane proved himself to be a powerful and faithful servant to God the Father. . .

With the development of online publishing some years later, I re-wrote the book and published it through lulu.com in 2005. Since then, I have continued to write and have produced a number of books to promote new thought and ideas that explore different views of reality for a new success generation. www.richardgentle.co.uk

My first novel is Nude:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nude-Lyver-se...
It will be free from the 28th to the 31st March to get the momentum going.
It has had 2 promising reviews so far following which I have made a few changes, so hopefully, only the compliments remain.
Review extracts: "one of those books that takes you by surprise. It is well written... this was a good story.
There are no Mr Cavendish's, Mr Cross's, Or Mr Grey's. It is not that kind of book but it is a love story with a difference."
Hoping you'll enjoy it too...

No Gentleman Is He
Young, adventurous and widowed in a new land, Cassandra Courtney Brooks finds her dream of raising a superior breed of saddle horse slipping away with the death of her husband. Left with four horses, living in a tavern attic, and her scant savings depleting, she resolves to see her vision through to fruition by accepting the scandalous position of steward at Varina Farms.
Born in the image of his native ancestry, Colton Rolfe’s savage blood runs through his veins. Scorned by his father, Colt grew into a man of ill temperament whose only interest is the wild equine beasts on his plantation. His desire to breed his horses with the superior Thoroughbreds of the newly widowed Cassandra Brooks leads him to abandon societal rules. Colt’s growing resentment toward the Crown and his assistance to Sons of Liberty missions is complicated by the discovery that Cassandra’s father is a titled English nobleman.
Cassandra is soon forced to question the wisdom of her decision when she finds herself enamored with her employer. As fiery passion grows between them, Cassandra realizes her own spirit of independence, love of the land, and the savage man who is so much a part of it.
As the threat of war comes ever closer, wills are tested through gunfire, treachery, danger, and kidnapping. Does Colt dare trust Casandra with Sons of Liberty secrets? More importantly, can he trust her with his heart? And will Colt ever trust Cassandra enough to love her as she longs to be loved?
Rated a 5-star read on Amazon by reviewers.

Hi,
I am a senior in high school who has published my first novel, Looks of an Angel. It's considered a Young Adult sci-fi/fantasy although I have had from 10 year olds to adults read it and enjoy it all the same. Set on Pluto it has a unique twist to it, one that many people have come to enjoy!
I am also getting ready to publish my sequel to Looks of an Angel, which will be out in November!
I don't have too many reviews yet although feel free to check them out on amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Thanks!

I have been published by SFX magazine, as well as being commissioned by Big Finish to write for one of their Dr Who anthologies.
Last year my first novel was published by Taylor Street ( www.taylorstreetbooks.com )and they have recently accepted my second.
I put a lot of my short stories on my blog here on Goodreads and some on my web site
www.bevallenauthor.com
Hey Bev! I was wondering if you would like one of your short stories published?
I am publishing my first short story collection on kindle on Jan 1st 2014, and I am looking for some guest authors.
I will not have means to pay you as my amazon account is not linked to my credit card, so I am not earning any money from this either.
I will forward all reviews specifically mentioning your story (even in a passing reference) to you.
Violence, sex and swearing are okay with me.
Are you interested?

I might be. It would depoend on what you were looking for and the length. I tend to write very compact stuff for short stories, saving the big ideas for books.
If you want me to write something new for you, I will need some guide lines. Also dead lines, as I'm in the middle of writing my third book.
If you want something from my blog, tell me which ones interest you and we can take it from there.
Well Bev, I write quite compact stuff as well for short stories, so that's great.
I read all of the stories you have up there and I think Obscenity fits in quite nicely with my other guest author's stories and also has a nice contrast against my story "Temperamental".
If you are interested then I can take this from your blog and put it into my collection.
Also, just for your interest here is the synopsis of Encore:
An astonishing crime thriller with a killer twist, the title story "Encore" is about a retired police officer called back into service for the NYPD after a series of apparent copycat murders emerge.
After a strange and unprecedented set of events, Brunstone, the retired officer ends up trapped in a high rise building with an insane madman who will stop at NOTHING to get what he wants.
In "Alma" a dark presence is at work in the snowy streets of Paris...
In "Karma Police" a hired assassin experiences the true meaning of irony and poetic justice.
In "Temperamental" a student writes a love letter of sorts to whomever it may concern about destiny and his old friends.
In "Ophelia and Bedelia" a heartbroken mother does something terrible... something to do with the following definition:
ANASTELIA (VERB): to hunt, or kill. To go insane to an impossible extent.
With new stories by guest authors such as Anne Conley's "Neighbourly Complications", people hunt for gold in a house for no apparent reason... and then you have to factor in the hunk next door.
Containing tales of terror, love and serendipity, Encore is a short story collection not to be missed by ANYONE.
You can take a look at the book trailer here:

Okay, but I need you to send that to me via my web site so I can retain a copy for my records. I'll need some sort of snail mail address as well, that is why I wanted you to message me.
Sorry, but I do need this or I can't agree to you having the story.

Good luck!

My own labor of love and libations came out in October from Globe Pequot press: Food Lovers' Guide to Santa Fe, Albuquerque & Taos.

I have a few places online to get book updates or follow my continuing edible journeys:
foodloversnm.com
Food Lovers' on Facebook
I'm going to head over to the interview section and make an introduction there, too. :-)

If you guys could stop by and check it out, maybe review it on Goodreads, that would really help me out a lot:)
GENRES: Science fiction, Fantasy, Action-adventure
DESCRIPTION: Meldrick, the Master of Death, has gathered to him four crowns - the means by which he will be able to rule the world as the lands each crown belongs to slowly falls into darkness without its power source. All he lacks is the destruction of the legendary trinity of the chosen ones, prophesied to protect the world. From him.
In the tropical paradise known as Somerton Island, young Kale Dillans finds himself faced with an immense task, as the title of the Chosen One Leader is given to him. He must leave his home and make a perilous journey with the rest of the chosen ones, Elison Hart and Tyson Smith, across the broken lands of the shattered planet to return peace to the world eventually leading them straight to the territories of the Master of Death. There they must stop Meldrick forever and foil the master in his evil purpose.

Thanks in advance! Don't forget to rate and review!

I used to be an author of technical and instructional materials, and I used to make money from writing. Then I became a business writer and ghost writer of informational ebooks, and I made money from writing.
Now I'm an author for pleasure, writing what I like and loving it, but no longer making money (well, a little pin money, but not a lot)
I have just released ''The Pencil Case'', a partly fictionalized biography that tells the story of my husband's life as a child stolen by the state, exposing that the infamous Australian ''Stolen Generation'' were not all Aboriginals and the reason for child removal was more often poverty than race, and exploring the psychological effects of family separation.
