At the very top, a…moreI have a large pile of books by my bed at the moment that were designated summer reading and are quickly becoming lockdown reading. At the very top, and one that I have just started is Katherine MacDonald's The Rose and the Thorn which so far is absolutely fantastic, I cannot get enough of the beautiful, vivid imagery this woman creates.

Also in that pile: Margaret Atwood's sequel to Handmaid's Tale, The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch (Philip K Dick), and Philip Pullman's the Book of Dust .

(There is a lot of catching up on reading to do when you are both a writer and a teacher)

I am looking to add to the list with other indie authors, since I have decided to try to be supportive of my fellow new or independent writers and artists, so hopefully soon I will be able to add to that list :)(less)

Batty marxist lectures and five star reviews

So today has been rather odd. I attended a lecture on Marxist literary criticism which became more like a circus when a bat made a mid lecture cameo. Yes a bat, a small rodent like creature with leathery wings which instils fear in the hearts of all English students (apparently).
