I liked more TID, because it was more unpredictable and it took place in Victorian London.

I agree with you three! (Isabelle, Jei-Nhy and Areti) I read Clockwork angel first, loved it, and then took a look at TMI. I too like the fact that TID is based in Victorian London because that's definitely my favourite era/location!
The Infernal Devices. I like the love triangle between Tessa, Will, and Jem. Every quote really captivates the reader because the words are so meaningful and detailed. Overall the story is beautifully portrayed because it really enhances life in the Victorian Age and the characters behave in a way that is relatable. ♥
For me, I'd have to say TMI, though both series are brilliant, and it was such a hard choice. I think TMI because TMI was the series I fell in love with in the first place, and TID I discovered after City of Glass. Also, I don't really like the era TID was placed in... just the dresses. I can't imagine trying to kill a demon in a dress lol.
I am an urban fantasy kind of girl, and the Mortal Instruments is the one book series--out of anything I have read--that gives me everything I want. Everything! It's pretty darn amazing :) However, I do tip my hat to the Infernal Devices for it's creativity. Also, I like Tessa better as a heroine.
how can you choose one? they are both sooo good!!! I'd say TMI but then I'd regret it and say TID but take that back... but probably TMI!
I'd go with TMI. I personally prefer the more modern setting, that's why I'm absolutely buzzing for TDA!!!
TID. Such a beautiful story and a perfect ending. Tessa is awesome. Will and Jem how can you not love.
Yes, TID has a Victorian Age plot, and TMI has a modern plot. They are both beautifully written, but TID has an aspect to it that is so relatable. And the characters are described very well<3
I loved both series but the one that really got to me is the infernal devices, the fact that i always want to re-read those books, the fact that i can't and won't ever be able to choose between will and jem. The mortal insturments was great I loved it and has also ca^ptured my heart but infernal devices got to me first. :D
The Infernal Devices is my absolute favorite series!!! I think Tessa is much more relatable than Clary. I also love Jem and Will! Although, I do love Magnus too as he is my second favorite character in the Shadowhunter world, behind Jem. TID is flawless!
To me, it's not even a thought. The Infernal Devices all the way. I don't like a lot of things about TMI, namely Jace. Don't hate me for that!
I honestly cannot chose.. they both had me wrapped. I could not stop crying when the infernal devices ended and I would not stop crying in the mortal instruments. its just impossible to choose one
I have only read TMI and I love them!! I can't imagine being more obsessed and hooked... Are TID really that good?
You can't imagine how good they are! It's a better plot and the characters are fantastic! In the last book i could't stop crying
TID is such a beautiful trilogy! It is set in the Victorian Age, but it is truly amazing because it speaks about the past and involves magic in it (; I would love to be Tessa. haha xD

The series seemed to flow more smoothly and developed into a really good plot (: <3

I actually love both series, because they're both unique in their ways. But I have to say, TMI will always have a special place, because these were my first books from Cassie, and yeah - you know, they're something special :3
That's a really hard i feel like city of bones tmi series really catapulted me into the young adult fiction I have a great love for that series but you cant really deny the fact that the infernal devices series has more depth and is really a fantastic storyline and takes you on a emotional roller-coaster. But to be realistic i really can not choose.
I first read TMI, finished the series, then went back and read TID. Honestly, I think Cassandra Clare becomes a better writer as she goes. TMI is TOTALLY awesome (don't get me wrong), but then I read TID and I was like, WHOA, and was sucked in deep! I think one of the best things was her love triangle. It was so unique in the fact that EVERYONE loved each other, not just two guys fighting over a girl, the girl loving them both while the guys hated each other. It was such an intriguing, intricate series I mean, just... *sigh* I loved it.

I do too!
For me it's impossible to choose. I love both of these series so much, and there are certain things from each series that I like better than the other. For example, I think that the love triangle between Tessa, Jem and Will is the best love story ever written, but at the same time I like the action from TMI better. However, I can't say that one of the series is better than the other. Both of them have a special place in my heart and will forever be imprinted in my mind for their awesomness :)

It's a tough decision, but i would have to say i like the Infernal Devices a bit more. I love how Jem and Will are really close, and how Tessa is only main female character that i have read about that is tall! Most of the heroines in books are usually short, so i was really happy to read about a girl my height, that i can connect with. I hope Jem and Tessa will appear in City of Heavenly Fire. Just love the series!!! <3
i think that the Infernal Devices was better cause the characters were more open and i think that they were more relatable from the readers stand point being a reader and i think that it was just more detailed, more than TMI which is more about relationships and sex, TID are more about action and what was happening in the shadowhunter world.
The Mortal instruments by a landslide. The Infernal Devices' characters were almost all flat and static. None of them changed during the course of the story and the antagonist was static and had deeper humanity to him. Even if you didn't want to, you could see where Valentine was coming from in his side of the war. He went about it in the wrong way, but he was still human. The Infernal Devices seemed to focus too much on the relationship aspects of the story with all too obvious hints from the beginning and the disappointing climatic episode in the last book, Clockwork Princess. In the Mortal Instruments, the actions scenes alone are enough to keep me drooling for more. The plot twists and situations that the characters are forced into make surprisingly human decisions whereas in the Infernal Devices, some of the characters developed the worst case of stupid which led them to make stupid and unrealistic decisions that just ended up with more drama. One of the main problems I had with The Infernal Devices was the characters. They were static and flat, not really changing at all in personality throughout the story, with the possible exception of Will. Also the main character, Tessa, was one of the most unlikable characters I've ever encountered. In my opinion, she was taking too much from the Shadowhunters and contributing too little, if you take out the drama. I also didn't like her because its absolutely unreasonable for her to have both of the love interests. I think if the ending would have been tragic and sad, rather than her being nasty and getting both of them, I would have enjoyed the story a lot more.
Overall, I just think that the Infernal Devices was run of the mill and not at all what I expected of Cassandra Clare based on her previous masterpieces. I guess that's partly my fault for raising my expectations too high. The funny thing is that when I finished the series I enjoyed it, but looking back on it, it wasn't exactly the best of Cassandra's work. I probably liked the Infernal Devices out of loyalty. But I did enjoy the Infernal Devices, just not as much as the Mortal Instruments.
I think I might be too opinionated. Or just really good at supporting my thesis... I like the latter.
hello people just joined the group *dances*Anyways... I have read the Mortal Instrument and I'm thinking about reading the Infernal Devices, mainly because I'm trying to figure out who the characters are and how they are related to TMI!
When I finish reading Infernal Devices (if I do) then I will get to see which book is better!!
Oh, has Clockwork Princess come out yet or is it coming out on March 19?
Dont read this if you havent read the last ID! :I think im going to have to say MI cause Jace is just flat out hilarious and also my heart was never being torn in two b/w two true loves, like with Will and Jem. I mean there was Simon, but he doesnt really count. He was always the best friend. And first Tessa was with Jem and then Will and now Jem again.. I couldn't go back forth like that.

The Infernal Devices!!!!!!
The books got me back into reading.
