Both stories are amazing, but I think TMI is way darker and dangerous, while TID is built as a poem

I'm only on book 2, City of Ashes in TMI. It seems that TID is the prequel to it, and I "should" have read it first?!!

Too late now, LOL. Can anyone give an opinion on whether I'm missing a lot by reading TMI first? According to this site, I should be reading TID first, then I heard of The Dark Artifices too.

TMI has 6 books so it will take me a lot of time just to read this series. I also want to read The Bane Chronicles, since I love Magnus.

Is this a stand alone book? Can I read it whenever or is it better to read it after TMI? I'd look this stuff up but I don't want to come across spoilers!

While the mortal devices had more in in terms of plot which is normal cz it has double the books, I found the infernat devices to have better structure and better characters.
It almost felt like an upgrade of the mortal devices.

No doubt that The Infernal Devices have better writing and seem much more mature and God! Will is there! Still all those amazing things don't change that The Mortal Instruments are better.

Also for me a star alone went for Jem. Everytime I see him in again in other books I cry. cant explain it I love him and his epic bromance with Will.

TMI, it has a better plot and great villains who were more dangerous and with an original past, besides TMI has Isabelle and Magnus <3
Also better character development overall. And the dark war was one of the best wars I’ve ever read.
