You're lucky you can get good library books. My library is terrible and has less than half the books of any given series off my tbr list.

I've been very lucky with my local library. They have a great inter-library loan program within the county. But there are still a lot of books I'd like to read that they don't have, or they'll have a few random books in a series but not the whole series. But all in all, it's a great library.

Ok, I know I am going to sound totally stupid, but here it goes. You may laugh at my expense. LOL

Shoot ... I Googled the difference and STILL didn't understand it. LOL I am guessing that metric is US and imperial is UK and elsewhere. Either way I have a LOT of books, in my opinion. :-)

I have a 5 self bookcase covered with books, 2 rows deep plus books laying on top, on each self. I have books on my headboard and on top of a cabinet. Some I have read and want to keep, but 90% are "to-read" books. It might not seem like a lot to some people, but it is to me. LOL

Audrey, I have the same unread at home. Except I have a built in bookcase in my living room as well as the 5 shelf in the hall that is 2 deep. And let's not forget the nightstand in my room, the top of my desk and the gun cabinet lol

That was part of my problem ... I did work part-time at used bookstore last year. I couldn't help myself. I would get to see the books first. My section was Parnormal, so I put the ones I wanted on a self in the back to buy later. LOL Now that I am not working there, I have opened up a library account. Which has helped me with not spending too much money on books, but I still have to read the ones I have at home. I know ... I have a problem! LOL

The gun cabinet? Really? Sounds like we need a thread where we can post pictures of all the bookcases and piles of books we have. We're running out of room to put bookcases in our house, and the kids keep knocking over the stacks I have next to the bed. I usually put only the first two books of a series at the front of the shelf and then lay the rest of the books in that series down horizontally on the shelf behind them. Although this only works for paperback. I've found I can fit more in the back row if you lay them down versus stand them up. Plus, if your shelf is deep enough, there's room for one or two books standing on end between the two rows.

HAHA Christine, my paperbacks are laying horizontal too. I can fit 4 stacks of about 11 or 12 high, 2 deep and then a row of them vertically in front of that PER SHELF!! I have a HUUUGGGEEEE problem. And what's worse, we got out of school early today for the tornadoes and the girls and I went shopping for a costume for Fiddler on the Roof and I bought 10 new books at the second hand stores :)

Audrey, Europe, Australia & I think UK are metric, US is still Imperial.

I did not think that it would be an issue really since they are almost but not quite the same.

1 metric tonne [t] is 0.9842 imperial tonne
If you are referring to a UK long ton, it's 1.016 metric tonne.

Really, I was just joking around. I think that the long ton is more an archaic measurement and not very much used anymore...but than again I don't live there and never used it.

I've got a question: I've started listening to audiobook versions of books I've already read as a way to refresh my memory on what happened early on in some series. I've been borrowing the audiobooks from the library, but they are all books that I own in print. I just realized that I haven't been counting them, and now wonder if I should. If I do count them, do I treat them as owned (because I own the print version) or borrowed (because I borrowed the audio version)?

Well I'd treat it as borrowed cause you did borrow them, but it doesn't really matter, as long as you didn't buy them, all is good.

You know...starting this challenge was not so bad an idea. It made me realize how much I left unread and kept adding more books.

It's a rude awakening to see the numbers each months of new/old books. I have too many series started to make a dent in my TBR pile but at least it makes me keep an eye on it.

Some of you are doing great! Me, I am content when i have an even number of old and new.
