Sue Erickson | 673 comments Diane I went on Amazon and got all the hardbacks used. I just went for excellent condition. My Fiery Cross looked like it had never been looked at and cost 1.88 plus shipping. The are all in really good condition tho.

The Geeky Bibliophile (tgbreviews) Hi everyone! I just had to rush over and post this to a group of people who would understand why I'm so happy tonight. ;)

I just ordered The Exile and the (unabridged) audiobook of Outlander!!! I am SO excited, and can't wait for them to arrive. The Exile will be here on Thursday (2/16), but the audiobook won't arrive until 2/21. Ohhhh, it's going to be a long week of waiting for that one, I know it!

Looking forward to reading/listening!

Diane | 1360 comments I'll have to check Amazon out for the used books. There are other books I'd like to own also so this may be dangerous

The Geeky Bibliophile (tgbreviews) Thanks everyone... I knew y'all would get it. :D

Leea | 1239 comments We all know that DG got the idea for Jamie from watching Dr. Who... Looks like they are going to remake it. Here is the link:

Brunhilde | 158 comments I have a question. I just finished Fiery Cross. And I don't remember ever finding out who played "this little piggy" with Claire's toes. Was it in there or will I find it out later? Thanks.

message 112: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments I have also noticed that most people don't seem to like the Fiery Cross all that much, but I loved it. And I wasn't all that thrilled about Drangonfly in Amber, which everyone seems to love. I am going to finish the series and immediately start through them all again. I know I must have missed so much in my desire to simply find out what is going to happen next.

We don't really know for sure... Um, did you finish the book? There are theories... Who do you think it was?

message 114: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments The books never say for sure, however Diana Gabaldon when interviewed has said that it was definitely jamie. That nobody else would have known to play 'this little piggy', that this was an inside thing between them.

Yes Lea, I finished the book. I think it was one of my favorites. I figured if it were Jamie it would have been discussed later in the barn. But when nothing was ever said about it AND I find out now in ABOSAA that Stephen Bonnet is still alive, well, I just wondered if that was left unanswered for a reason.
Thanks.

Did they play "this little piggy" before? Is that something I should have picked up on?
Thanks.

message 117: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Well I think when it's happening Claire has a quick thought about how she told him the stories of how she used to play piggys with Bree when she was a baby.

message 118: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Can anyone tell me a link to a good online gaelic dictionary. I know the Outlandish Companion has the translations but I had to return it to the library.

message 119: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments Can I just say, what happens with J & C in the barn after she is woken up... :) I love that man!

I second that emotion!

message 121: by Sue (new)

Sue Erickson | 673 comments OK, I'm going to third that emotion!!

message 122: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments So I don't know if this where we can talk about this--and I am sure this a spoiler of some sort, but I am currently reading ABOSAA for the first time and Roger was asked to come "get the devil out the milk" and we meet Amy McCallum. I DO NOT have a good feeling about this. I don't really want to know. I want to read it myself, but I am just bursting over here dying to share my trepidation.

message 123: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments has anyone seen that DG has an app for Outlander... It's free!

message 128: by Fawn (new)

Fawn | 404 comments Awwe to bad I don't have an iphone : (

message 129: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments I know, it seems strange just to do iTunes and not the others. Maybe soon.

message 130: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Wow... makes me almost want to get an iPhone! The rest of you will just have to promise to keep us abreast of all the latest from this new app!

message 131: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Okay, I just read on DG blog that WIMHOB may not be the last book. That pleased me greatly. It makes the waiting a little more bearable. But something tells me you guys already knew that.

message 132: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments That's awesome!

Has anyone looked into the 1940 American census that's now digitally available?

My great Uncle who is our families historian (He's amazing at it) sent me the report for my great grandfather, great grandmother and my grandfather... it's amazing to see their names on that report.

message 133: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Okay, so I know you can read these daily lines from IMHOB, but I just can't do it. I read one. Could not stop thinking about it. Became terribly frustrated and grumpy. It is just not good for my mental health. I must wait to experience in the its entirety.

message 134: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments Oh, the one DG posted last Friday about Jaime and Claire had me crying so hard. Did anyone read that one?

message 135: by Sue (new)

Sue Erickson | 673 comments I read them everyday Leea! That one was like poetry.

message 136: by Gwennie, biblioholic (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments I totally missed it!

message 137: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1239 comments Here it is off Twitter:

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/gr62lb

I copied it and pasted it here... Remember this is from MOBY, Don't read unless you've already read Echo :)

(view spoiler)

message 138: by Fawn (new)

Fawn | 404 comments I am so looking forward to this book, and I can't wait to hear it on audio too!

message 139: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Just a quick question--what is everyone referring to when they say MOBY? I thought the last book released was Echo in the Bone aka. Echo. And that we were all waiting for Written in My Heart's Own Blood aka. WIMHOB. Am I getting this all wrong?

message 140: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Can we discuss when is the best place to read the Lord John books?

message 141: by Fawn (new)

Fawn | 404 comments Brunhilde, MOBY is Diana Gabaldon's pet name for Written in My Own Hearts Blood, and She suggests reading the Lord John series any time after Voyager.
Hope that helps : )

are we going to get any more details?

message 146: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments maybe all of you have discussed this already but can we go over at the end of Outlander when Claire brings Jamie are in the abbey and he tell her to leave and she does that thing where she looks in the water and goes to his room and fights his demons.

is all about that he promised not fight and that made him feel so defeated now. and she let him fight her. or something to do with making love for the first time after it all?
could really use everyone thoughts on this.

message 147: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Brunhilde, I know we discussed this in the re-read in Jan-Feb, and you'll likely find discussion in the Outlander book thread here.

But basically, yes - Claire needed to get Jamie to fight: to fight against BJR in his mind, to fight for his life, to fight for his sanity, to fight for himself. Jamie needed to regain himself and his "manhood", if you will, because his promise to BJR for saving Claire's life was that he wouldn't fight him. Jamie couldn't live with what he did - how his body responded against his will, and how BJR got into his head and sullied Jamie's physical relationship with Claire. Both Claire & Jamie are very physical beings... touch is their love language, if you will. So for Jamie to not be able to bear Claire's touch without associating it with Jack Randall was the worst form of abuse and torture that Jack could have accomplished - even more than using Jamie's body.

message 148: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. That's exactly how I saw it too Lori.

message 149: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments Thank you. That was kind of the thoughts I had swimming in my head about it but I just wanted to double check. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss any important detail that revealed something else I should have remembered.
Mostly, I think best by expressing my thoughts. Which is my why I love all of you so much. :)

message 150: by Brunhilde (new)

Brunhilde | 158 comments sometimes i get emails and sometimes i get notifications about comments. but i think i am missing a lot. when i looked at my "group settings" i could pick "digest" or "individual" but I was sure what those words meant. can anyone help me?
