Megs (medicasali) I'm reading Mastering the Art of French Eating: Lessons in Food and Love from a Year in Paris set in Paris and many other regions in France. It's been interesting so far because each chapter focuses on a particular French dish and goes into the history of the dish and the area it came from. The jury is still out on the memoir portion of the book; the author is a little complain-y about her personal life and while I can understand why, it may get old by the end of the book.

I'm enjoying it! It's a little disturbing how grown up all the children are in the story, especially Ender and his siblings. I immediately connected with Ender and you really feel sorry for him at certain times. I'm just over halfway through so I will let you know how I feel at the end. But so far I highly recommend it!

It's such a strange book but I really did enjoy it. I loved the family dynamics and how Dunn told the story from the character who, to all outsiders was indeed a freak, but to her family she was considered normal, which made her a freak to them. She was shunned by all societies. It gave her a unique perspective.

Karol K | 3 comments I just finished "Cocktails under the Tree of Forgetfulness" by Alexandria Fuller. It is about a wackie British family living and dying in Post Colonial Southern Africa. It is a tragic and sometimes laugh out loud novel. I really enjoyed it and plan to read the prequel "Don't go out with the Dogs". I recommend. It is really a bio of her mother born in Scotland and living in Kenya, Rhodesia, etc.
