How do you like it? I wanted to read something about the Borgias too but didn't really know where to start :)

message 1255: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Shipman So far it's good and I love The Italian Renaissance and the intrigue around Borgias. They definitely give The Godfather a run for its money.

I enjoyed the book and would like to hear your take on it. I'll start just by saying that I don't think he was really attempting to write a genre fantasy book and have been surprised at how often it has been reviewed as if it was a fantasy book, but I'm curious about what you got from the book as well before I say more.

I think the title is The Buried Giant. I've actually read 3 Ishiguru and liked all of them.

Cheyanne Morimoto | 2 comments Hi, everyone!

I'm currently reading Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow (a wonderful literary tapestry of early 20th century New York), Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden (Just started reading this. From reviews I've read and from what I've read so far, it's a fictional memoir following a geisha in Japan pre-and-post WWII.), and City Sticks: A Collection of 50 Poems by A.H. Sewell (which is turning out to be a phenomenal collection of poetry).

message 1282: by Doann (new)

Doann Houghton-Alico | 7 comments I recently spent 2 weeks in Cuba exploring the country from SE starting in Santiago de Cuba to NW, Habana. One of my current reads is "Jose Marti Reader: Writings on the Americas." When exiled by the Spanish he lived in New York for 14 years before returning to Cuba to fight Spanish colonialism, during which he was killed in 1895. I have admired him as a poet, but this book made me aware of his essays, which are insightful and written with frequent lyrical, 'quotable' thoughts. In my travel blog, I have 3 about Cuba. Here's a link to one that refers to Marti. http://doannhoughton.com/blog/the-tru...

I don't know how to do accented letters in comments. Can anyone tell me about this? Thanks.

I am enjoying it. It is certainly not what I expected though. Quite a bit of history of wolves and the people of the grasslands.
