T.K. Naliaka I'm carrying around Antoine St.Exupéry's book 'Terre des hommes', which means 'Land of Men.' He's best known for his 'Le petite prince' or 'The Little Prince,' The Little Princebut that just doesn't do him justice. He was one of the pioneering pilots of the world of the 1920s and 1930s, flying mail runs from France to Africa, and was the contemporary to the French pilot Jean Mermoz, who was the first to fly over the Atlantic to South America. These pilots had quite the perilous adventures, with lots of time to ponder life, so St. Exupéry's books, 'Land of Men' and 'Southern Mail' (Courier Sud)Southern Mail: And Night Flight are just gold mines of great quotes.

message 1118: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness and The Gravity of Birds at present. Over the last few days, I've been cataloguing my own library, including kindle books, for upcoming reading. I have found your lists to be of immense help. Now I can pick a book from my lists to meet requirements and don't have to wait at the library for a return or even shop a big box store for a book. Most of my books have been free on my kindle or under a dollar at my local library bookstore and the proceeds go to the literacy program for children. I am blessed to have this time to read and the desire to participate in this program.

Marie Østvold (xmariexf) | 350 comments I'm currently reading 'The silence of the lambs',which is great, and 'The catcher in the rye', which I haven't really got my mind set around yet. I'm not sure if I like it, or if I find it a bit boring and slow.
- Anyway, I just realized that I haven't really read any books that has been published this year- and this just doesn't seem right. Any recommendations and suggestions?

message 1121: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 90 comments Marie, If you like historical fiction, I think All the Light We Cannot See was a really good book released this year.

message 1122: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 90 comments Just finished The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley. I didn't really enjoyed it so much as I expected. The plot is predictable. The writing style is too simple. The characters are plain, boring and some times their actions and reactions just don't make sense. Though I gave it 2* since I can't say I hate it.

I'm not sure what I'll read now. I'm trying to pick something from the huge pile on my bedside table...

message 1123: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 90 comments I finally decided to start reading The House Girl by Tara Conklin.

While deciding I read a children book called The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies that my 9 years old son recommended to me. It was a great reading! I'm not boring everyone here with my comments, but here is my review if anyone with kids is interested.
