Really creepy and pretty good. I was wary because of the hype.

I recently finished my ebook copy of The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood - loved my first Margaret Atwood and can't wait to start my next ebook - loaned from my Overdrive - The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd .

Deb I am currently reading Fall of Giants, by Ken Follett. It is the first book of the Century Trilogy that follows the lives of five families from just prior to WWI. I am about 1/2 way through the book and loving it. It is one of those books where you end up rationing how much you read because you don't want the story to end.

Jose Gallardo | 1 comments I'm reading Amazonian Treasure, a book that was recently published at Amazon kindle. The story is about a Peruvian young man who travels through the Amazon rainforest in search of a wise old man who possesses the wisdom of their indigenous ancestors. It's a book that I recommend to everyone because the message of the story is one that humans need to hear in these times of planetary chaos.

Sarah | 662 comments Just wanted to say I heard that Gabriel García Márquez passed away today. What a huge loss to the literary community. His book - One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez - is the most beautifully written book I have ever read. He was very gifted with words and an absolutely amazing and talented writer.

I would like to experience this group in a deeper way. Any suggestions? I printed out some free online maps of the entire world, by continent and wrote down lists of some of the books I own that qualified, mostly from the existing list but I have many more to add to it. How do I best utilize the group? I have been putting the books on my "shelf" so I remember to include them. Help?

Sarah | 662 comments I am reading The House Girl by Tara Conklin - 40% in and it is another amazing book set in the early 1800's about slavery. So many layers to this book. It goes back and forth between now and then. I also highly recommend The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom , The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd and Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline . All these books are so very good.

Reading "Floreana - A Woman's Pilgrimage to the Galapagos" by Margret Wittmer. An older book (1989) about a bizarre experiment in living off the grid in the 1930s on a deserted island. Basis for the just released documentary "The Galapagos Affair" - which I highly recommend.

Victoria Allman | 4 comments I just finished rereading Rose En Marche by Jamie Ivey

Jamie Ivey has written one of the most enveloping books about life in the south of France and the food culture that surrounds it. From the first page I was drawn into his story and dreamed at night of Provence. He captured the area perfectly and tells an amusing tale as life as a wine purveyor in French markets. Having been myself to many of these markets, I was impressed and amazed at how well Jamie captured their spirit and essence. I laughed out loud many times and was driven to pour my own glass of rose on more than one occasion.
I immediately ordered Jamie's other two books, Extremely Pale Rose and La Vie En Rose and can't wait to read them.
This is a fantastic book to read at home or while traveling through France. It encompasses all the great things about the area: the food, the scenery, the people, and especially the rose.
